Running through the weekend

…no, not the real kind of running.  Who do you think I am? Winking smile

Here’s my weekend in review…

Friday:

Right now, I’m not working Fridays.  It’s rather glorious.  Instead I catch up on all the chores I neglect in the week, spend quality time with the bean, and meet up with my mommy friends so our boys can ‘play’ together:

Friday evening I met Zach and his coworkers for a drink.  And rather than make dinner, we hit up Yoppi.  Again.  And, yes, I had the cake batter froyo.  Again.  It was everything I wanted and more.  Who needs dinner when you can have dessert?

Saturday:

I woke up ‘early’ ( as in 8am) to get in 40 minutes of cardio and about 10 minutes of weights/abs before Zach and bean got out of bed.  I wanted to check it off my list before I met up with my fab friend Miss Shayla for lunch in Palo Alto.  She introduced me to a new restaurant by Top Chef Art Smith (love), called Lyfe.  Because great minds think alike, we both ordered the Napa cabbage salad and split the side of butternut squash and brussel sprouts.  Delish and healthy too.

We putzed around PA for a bit, and clearly had to make a pit stop for froyo at Yogurtland.  Oh, what, you don’t have froyo twice in less than 24 hours?  Pssht.  Yoppi won the battle between the two.

Saturday afternoon Zach and I hit up Trader Joe’s for a massive grocery shopping trip.  Unfortunately we never meal plan all that well, so let’s hope we aren’t stocked up on snacks only.

That evening we did a spaghetti meatball dinner followed with the Easter egg dying:

Sunday (Easter):

Ahh, Easter.  Sadly we didn’t have any grand plans with extended family or friends, so we created our own little holiday, which started out with opening our family Easter basket and a gift from his Obbie:

What a lucky little boy Winking smile

For our activity, we went for a hike at Quicksilver canyon in San Jose with the dog in tow.  Our time was somewhat limited as Zach had grand plans of watching The Masters finale (yawn).  So while he did that, I prepped a Greek quinoa salad for the week, bathed bean, did massive amounts of laundry, and planned this week’s outfits.  Productivity at its finest.

And now it’s Monday.  Let the fun begin.

How did you spend your Easter holiday?

Weekend Review–off my game

Good morning friends!

How was your weekend? Lovely and spooky I hope Alien

Want to know a tidbit of information?  I only have 16 more work days before maternity leave (until March 19 2012)!!!  Meep!

But back to the weekend.  This weekend was just plain off.  Yes there was some good, but I’m tellin’ ya, something in the stars were just not aligned for me.

Allow me to explain…

Friday:

Friday was an off-Friday from work, which means errands and more errands.  Well I meant to write my half of the rent check (yes separate bank accounts with the hubby) and realized I had no more checks.  Usually I plan ahead for these things.  Where was my mind?  Guess hubby is getting this month (mwuahahahah).

Then while running errands, I witnessed a 3 car crash just before my nail appointment, which had me a little frazzled.  And then my  shellac mani took about 75 minutes, which meant I was running behind for the rest of the day.   At least it looks good Winking smile

I quickly ran into the grocery store to pick up a few items needed to make some pumpkin bread, only to get home and realize I bought more cloves instead of nutmeg.  This is the second time I assumed I was out of cloves and not nutmeg, requiring me to go back to the grocery store to get the dang nutmeg.  Argh.

The pumpkin bread, however, was phenomenal – just follow this recipe.  I used 4 small pans and 2 ramekins to bake mine and it took about 53 min.

Saturday:

Saturday morning started out well enough.  We had our maternity photo shoot and did half the photos in the nursery and half up at Stanford.  From what I could tell she got some pretty good shots, but we won’t know for 2-3 weeks.  I may have some previews later this week though Smile

Since wed what we already up in Palo Alto, we decided to hit up Pluto’s for some salads and then of course had to go to Yoppi.  Remember that creation I mentioned last week?  Well I went for it: Pumpkin pie froyo, granola, graham cracker crumbs, and cinnamon life cereal with caramel on top.  So freakin’ good.  I can’t even begin to tell you how yum this was Smile with tongue out

Then things went down hill…

Either the froyo didn’t agree with me or the salad didn’t, because I was having major stomach issues.  We’ll just end that talk right there because anything further is TMI.

But we had to forge ahead and figure out our Halloween costumes for that night.  I wanted to be a pregnant nun and have Zach be a priest, but there were no costumes!

Since that didn’t work, I figured I’d be a white trash drinking/smoking preggers girl and set out to Target for some fake tattoos.  What did they have?  Nuthin’.  Sigh.

By the time we got home, I was oddly exhausted.  Like couldn’t stop yawning and crashed on the couch.

Needless to say, we didn’t end up going to the Halloween party and I feel like such a butthead.  I just got into a tired funk and couldn’t move.  You can check out pics from last year here though (Halloween Part 1, Halloween Part 2) Winking smile

Sunday:

When I woke up Sunday morning, it was so bright in our room and I was a bit confused, but didn’t think anything of it.  After I fed the pets and took Naava out, I came back in only to see the microwave clock read 941a!!!  Huh?  I just woke up to my alarm at like 817a.

Well my alarm is too smart for its own good and has pre-programmed Daylight Savings dates, but that was the dates like 8 years ago…they’ve since changed. So my silly clock set itself back an hour.  Ooops.

The rest of the morning was good, albeit a little off from getting started so late.  After my workout, I figured I’d hammer out some baby shower thank you cards by the pool.  No sooner do I walk down my stairs, do I realize I locked myself out.  Meaning I can’t get into the pool.  I walked to the leasing office and they won’t be back for an hour!  Zach just left to golf, so I’m, err, well, screwed.  Luckily I found a way into the pool area and hung out there until I could get back in.

I feel like it’s just one of those weekends where I was meant to stay in the comfy confines of my house all weekend.

So that was my weekend…

Growth

Happiest Monday to you!

Thanks for all the happy tweets and messages for this past weekend’s baby shower.  It was wonderful and I feel so blessed to have my awesome bestie Andrea make it happen Open-mouthed smile  Hugs to you A!!! Right hug

The last few days have been a whirlwind of activity, but yesterday we were able to spend a little time indulging and relaxing which meant a trip to Chevy’s (A’s fave Mexi restaurant) and then to Yoppi for some froyo.  Mexi and froyo in one day?  Talk about winning!  I didn’t take pictures – lame, but I was so over it.  However, this is what I ordered:

Hot damn, these were good.  Apparently I need to go to Chevy’s more often!

Froyo was also lovely.  I almost went back for seconds.  You see, I did my normal taste test and they just happened to have pumpkin pie flavor.  It was tasty.  But then that need for chocolate toppings took over (Shayla knows what I’m taking about) and I went with cookies and cream topped with cookie dough, butterfinger, reeses pieces, and oreos…and some caramel sauce Winking smile  Well then after I was done, I was thinking of an awesome combo:

  • Pumpkin pie froyo topped with cinnamon life crunch, granola, and graham crackers crumbs, drizzled with caramel sauce—>  Tell me that doesn’t sound like perfection?!?!  Sigh.  Next time.

Okay so yeah, yesterday alone could cause any waistline some growth, but I’m talking about some other kind of growth.  You know – that baby kind?

Last week I snapped a picture (30.5 weeks) and recalled a picture I took in July when I was about 17 weeks, wearing the exact same jeans.  Check out how much GROWTH I’ve had …  MEEEP! Surprised smile

034 (2)October 19 2011 belly

Yowsa right?  I have to say, I sort of love the belly.  Maybe not the bigger arms or thighs, but I do love the belly Smile

Alright, tell me what maybe made your pants stretch a little this weekend?

What part of your body do you love?
