Shoes-Day! Taupe bootie repeat

Hey there!

How was everyone’s weekend and Monday?  I spent Friday night catching up with the faboosh Shayla of The Good Life over Mexi food.  Total win-win situation.  And she was so kind and got me a GC to a spa –  I’m making her go with me Winking smile  (twisting her arm on that one)

Saturday was spent steam cleaning carpets (oddly enough, I love this) and having a scrumptious dinner made by our friends Dan and Kate (thanks guys!).

Yesterday I began going through the claim process for reporting the butthead that hit my car in my apartment complex 2 weeks ago and didn’t leave a note.  Therefore I  have to pay the deductible to get a whole new bumper.  Let’s hope karma comes back and bites him (or her) in the booty.

Moving on…

Below is the outfit I wore Friday night to meet up with Shayla:

In the mix is a olive military jacket (via Marshalls), black ruffle top from White House Black Market, 7 for All Mankind jeans, and taupe patent leather booties by Steve Madden (gift from bestie!).

Here are the booties up close:

These shoes definitely have some height to go with their funk appeal.  I don’t wear them nearly enough but I should.  Next time around, I’ll wear them with skinny jeans – they get rather lost under a boot cut.

Oh and since the bean also joined us for dinner, here is what he wore:

Red plaid onesie and black pants from Baby Gap and brown knit booties from Shayla Smile

Do you think booties go better with skinny jeans or boot cut?  Or does it depend on the shoe?

Shoes-Day! Red peep-toe repeat

Shoes-Day Tuesday my friends and I’ve got a repeat for you.  I feel so much lighter and free after purging 9 pairs of shoes over the weekend that I actually want to make a dedicated effort to resurrect the shoes I don’t wear so often.

Like these:

001 (6)

I showed them off last year with a red tulip skirt and this time ‘round, you’re getting them with a pair of jeans:

If you notice that my outfits seem to be recycled more often, I attribute it to my diminishing repertoire of clothes do the growing belly bump.  These jeans still fit/button so I’ll be getting use out of them.  And of course the flowy shirt and open cardi also work great for camouflaging the mini-bump.

In the last month or so, I’ve purchased two pairs of shoes that I can’t wait to share on the blog, but I haven’t had an occasion or outfit for them quite yet, so stay tuned.

Do you like to resurrect some of your neglected pairs of shoes?

Anyone want these Carlos Santana Maryjanes (size 7.5)? Will trade for blogger goodies Winking smile

Shoes-Day!

Let’s start out this Tuesday with some super news, shall we?

HLSconfirm

Oh yeah, baby, I’m confirmed for the 2011 Healthy Living Summit in Philadelphia this August.

Buuuuut, the bad news is that ticket prices are fairly outrageous from Cali – like $600 Disappointed smile  It wouldn’t be so bad but we just booked tix to Boston that were $650 each for two weeks prior.  So let’s hope I can make it happen!

In the meantime, let’s take a look at some shoes.

And can I just say I don’t like these shoes?  I mean, I don’t hate them, but I’m so sick of them and they are only about 2 years old, but are a huge reason why I’m in desperate search of new black sandals.

Here they are:

June 3 2011 shoes 003

These are by Madden Girl, size 7.5, and are very similar to my very first Shoes-Day shoes, which were by Steve Madden and can be seen here.

The shoes do have a redeeming aspect in that they are quite tall and work well with this pair of longer boot cut jeans:

I call this look casual-Friday-preppy-cowgirl…accurate, no?

The problem still remains, I’ve searched high and low and still cannot find a new black sandal.  Perhaps my criteria – no wedge, 4” heel, 0.5-1” platform, no t-strap, more sandal than pump, under $100.

Fit girl foodie suggested this shoe and it’s definitely a front runner.  What do you think?

Would you be interested in being my personal shopper for the perfect black sandal? If you found something I bought, I’d buy you a pair of equal or less value.

Are you going to the Healthy Living Summit? Who wants to be roomies Winking smile
