In a nutshell

Hey there

How was your weekend?

Mine went by lightning fast, thanks to a packed agenda.  Friday I met up with my lovely friend Shayla — it had been far too long and we had a great time gabbing while shopping.  She bought some adorable gifts for Bean that I will have to show when he wears them.  Thank you Shayla!

Friday night, I finally acquiesced to Zach and watched the Hunger Games.  I haven’t read the books and really have/had no desire to.  I’m not big on that genre of books.  So I agreed to watch the movie, since I heard it was well done.  I hated it.  HATED it.  What a sick, sick premise.  I really had no idea that I’d be watching a plot of masterminds pitting children against one another to fight to the death.  I had to stop watching about an hour in.  I’m rather shocked that so many people have enjoyed these books and this movie.  This seems crazy for me to say since I love reading True Crime, psychological thrillers, etc, but for some reason, this really disturbed me.  Am I the only one???

Saturday we had the honor of attending our friend’s baby’s first birthday!  Yes it is already that time.  One of the little boys in my mommy group has officially become a toddler.  She did a fabulous job of creating a fun kid and adult party full of amazing food, vino, toys, etc.  It gave me some great ideas for Bean’s upcoming 1st bday ;)

Sunday was more busy-ness as we had plans to meet our friends and there little 4 month old at Green’s Restaurant in SF.

(Yes that is a bloody mary)
Bean was feeling very serious as we waited for our table:

I have to wonder, how have I never been here?  It was fabulous.  An all vegetarian restaurant right in the Marina with fabulous views.  We ordered some buttermilk biscuits, a lemon blackberry scone, and walnut banana bread to start. I kept it light with the minestrone soup as my meal and am sort of regretting not getting Zach’s dish of ciabatta French toast with warm maple syrup.  I must return here.

We walked off our meal afterward and was treated to a pretty damn good view:

That was my weekend in a nutshell.  Mostly pretty great, minus that horrid movie :P

Here’s to a busy work week!

Let’s catch up, shall we?

I think the one week hiatus was one of the longest I’ve gone since starting my blog (in May 2010 <—wow!).  Like I said, I just wasn’t feelin’ it.  I’ve gone back and forth recently on whether I want to keep it up as much as I have.  I’ve enjoyed blogging to record what’s gone on in my pregnancy and now with my lil’ Soybean here, but other than that, I’m not extremely motivated in the HLB  community as of late.  Perhaps that’s because my blog really doesn’t fit in the “healthy living blog” genre.  Ultimately my blog is just a diary of my life…

Anyway…

Let’s catch up.

Valentine’s Day was spent with little hoopla and fanfare.  Instead we opted for some vino, spaghetti and meatballs at home with the bean.  He splurged on some formula.  What a wild man.

Wednesday I went to a Mommy and Me class that was fabulous.  I am loving bonding with new mommies and spending the day talking about all the craziness we’re experiencing.

Thursday 2 of my new mommy friends came over for a lunch date and more gossip.  We tried convincing the lil ones to pose for a pic, but Sawyer was not having it.  Poor guy!

Friday Zach’s brother arrived along with his fiancé to meet the soybean!  He’s so lucky to be so loved by all his family Smile  Despite having a 7 week old, we were able to do quite a bit in the short time they were here:

Saturday: Coffee shop in the AM, SF in the afternoon – Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square and drinks at McCormicks, then Little Italy for an early dinner.

Feb 18 2012 Pier 39

Sunday: AM walk to the coffee shop, excursion to Nebbia Winery in Half Moon Bay, followed by lunch at Moss Beach Distillery, and a stroll and sparkling wine at Ritz Carlton.

Feb 20 2012 Moss beach

We capped off the visit with some Cali staples: In & Out and Pinkberry.  Btw, the salted caramel froyo is ah-maz-ing!

So there ya go.  That’s what’s been happening in a nutshell.  And while you’re reading this, I’m at at follow up doctor’s appointment with the OB.  Wish me luck!

A lovely ladies weekend

Hi again!

Welcome back to reality – hopefully everyone is well rested and rejuvenated from the weekend (especially after yesterday’s extra hour of sleep –> Red heart)

First I have to thank you for showing the bestie love for her fabulous news on Friday’s post Smile  You are the best!

Friday evening I had plans to meet some of the Foodbuzz ladies for a late dinner, but after a twitter frenzy on Friday, plans quickly changed and we decided to all meet up pre-Foodbuzz events in Union Square.

Pic thanks to Katie

Though our time was pretty short, I had such fun hanging out with these ladies (Me, Gina, Katie, Courtney, and Sara).  We barely could stop gabbing long enough to figure out what we wanted to do, but ultimately decided to do what we do best (second to eating): shopping!  We hit up the mecca that is Forever 21 and all scored some sweet purchases.  I only wish I had more time with them Sad smile  They are all faboosh Open-mouthed smile

Saturday my good friend Kim came up and visited from LA.  Not only was she in my wedding, but we also went to Kauai together in February (such fun!).

Even though Kim and I only live a short 50 minute Southwest flight apart, our busy schedules make it hard to get together as often as we’d like.  But when we do, we have a blast!  We chatter away for hours on end, which is just what we did  while doing a little shopping at the mall, eating Italian food, and making pumpkin cookies for no reason.

We also managed to indulge in two Starbucks runs for the ubiquitous red cup return.  And the introduction of the delicious Skinny Peppermint Latte (130 cals for a Grande Surprised smile).  Oh yeah, I see a lot of these in my future.

Sunday came all too quickly and was met with errands (grocery shopping), finishing baby shower thank you cards, working out, etc.  Why is Sunday such a chore day?  Bah humbug.

How did you spend your weekend?

Do Starbucks red cups allure you in?

What’s your least favorite Sunday chore?
