And that was a good weekend

…to which you may say, what weekend is not a good weekend?  Well, frankly, some are just better than others and this one was a good one!

On Friday, Auntie CC, Bean and I went to Rootstock in Los Gatos for an afternoon of vino and apps.  It was rather glorious and sadly there are no photos (living in the moment, people).  We needed to have our own fun since Zach was at the US Open up in SF (a Father’s Day gift to himself methinks).

Saturday morning after 30 minutes on the elliptical followed by abs, we did a 4 mile walk with a stop for iced lattes and bagels at the halfway point.  Despite the heat, it was lovely to walk to breakfast.

Upon our return we thought it would be a great time to finally get Bean in the pool:

Like with every new venture, he smiled through it Winking smile  Next time maybe I’ll get in..ha!

Saturday evening was spent celebrating a friend’s Birthday (Happy Bday Kate!).  The Bay Area was a balmy 95 degrees!  We all seem to melt around here once things get above 85.  Even bean had a sweaty upper lip.  Poor guy.

Sunday was my personal training session and once again my PT thought it appropriate to make me to do step jumps and burpees.  Blech.  Anything to do with jumping/bouncing is not my idea of fun.

Before my workout, I gave bean gave Zach his gifts.  He even sported a new hat for himself in honor of his daddy:

Future golfer – what do you think?

Following the workout, Zach, Bean and I headed to Peets for some iced lattes to kick off the day.  He didn’t have many requests for celebrating other than these two items:

That would be Zach’s fave dessert: applecrisp.  My guess is that it will be gone by this evening.

And of course Pinkberry – please do not assume mine is on the left.  Zach is ridiculous and gets a large mango/original mix with berries and oreos.  I went the PBJ-esque route with PB/strawberry and cap’n crunch and granola (in  a more appropriately sized small).

Despite it being Dad’s day, I was able to sneak out and get a new mani:

Mint (gel) mani and yellow jeans – why hello Summer!

And that my friends is what made a better-than-average weekend!

What makes it a good weekend for you?

Whose froyo sounded better?  Kidding..sort of…I know you think mine sounds better right? Winking smile

Happiest Father’s Day to all the “dads” in my life: Zach, Dad/Grandpa, Gregorio/Grandpa G, Gary/Poppy.  Much love!

And Happy Birthday (last Thursday) to my Bestie Boo Andrea!

Let’s catch up, shall we?

I think the one week hiatus was one of the longest I’ve gone since starting my blog (in May 2010 <—wow!).  Like I said, I just wasn’t feelin’ it.  I’ve gone back and forth recently on whether I want to keep it up as much as I have.  I’ve enjoyed blogging to record what’s gone on in my pregnancy and now with my lil’ Soybean here, but other than that, I’m not extremely motivated in the HLB  community as of late.  Perhaps that’s because my blog really doesn’t fit in the “healthy living blog” genre.  Ultimately my blog is just a diary of my life…

Anyway…

Let’s catch up.

Valentine’s Day was spent with little hoopla and fanfare.  Instead we opted for some vino, spaghetti and meatballs at home with the bean.  He splurged on some formula.  What a wild man.

Wednesday I went to a Mommy and Me class that was fabulous.  I am loving bonding with new mommies and spending the day talking about all the craziness we’re experiencing.

Thursday 2 of my new mommy friends came over for a lunch date and more gossip.  We tried convincing the lil ones to pose for a pic, but Sawyer was not having it.  Poor guy!

Friday Zach’s brother arrived along with his fiancé to meet the soybean!  He’s so lucky to be so loved by all his family Smile  Despite having a 7 week old, we were able to do quite a bit in the short time they were here:

Saturday: Coffee shop in the AM, SF in the afternoon – Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square and drinks at McCormicks, then Little Italy for an early dinner.

Feb 18 2012 Pier 39

Sunday: AM walk to the coffee shop, excursion to Nebbia Winery in Half Moon Bay, followed by lunch at Moss Beach Distillery, and a stroll and sparkling wine at Ritz Carlton.

Feb 20 2012 Moss beach

We capped off the visit with some Cali staples: In & Out and Pinkberry.  Btw, the salted caramel froyo is ah-maz-ing!

So there ya go.  That’s what’s been happening in a nutshell.  And while you’re reading this, I’m at at follow up doctor’s appointment with the OB.  Wish me luck!

WI(wanttoeat)W

Hi friends – I recapped my best eats on Monday so that pretty much either leaves a boring recap of Tuesday eats or fantasy eats.  I’m going with the latter.

It’s What I (Want To Eat) Wednesday, courtesy of Jenn at Peas and Crayons

Let’s start with a DQ Blizzard:

Usually I allow myself one DQ per year, but now that they have minis and I can play the preggers card, I say I can have more Winking smile  Growing up, I’d have maybe 2 a week.  The motto in our house was “I fly, you buy” because we lived so close to a DQ – if the parents were paying, I’d do the walking!  I’m jonesing for a cookie dough (extra cookie dough please).

Or I could be in the mood for Pinkberry’s new watermelon flavor – have you tried it?  It’s my favorite yet.  Then again, salted caramel is pretty good too Smile with tongue out  Gotta love the free tastings to try everything!

Yes I’m on an ice cream kick.

And I’m also due for my twice yearly Patxi’s trip (Hi Natalie!)

I’m also feeling a shortage of veggie love in my life and could go for a big ol’ one of these:

In fact, I’ll actually buying one at work todaySurprised smile  The shock is because I normally refuse to buy any of my lunches while at work.  I prefer packing my own, but we are slim on groceries (on account of going on vacay starting tomorrow) and I need some veggies!  Yesterday I made do with a Think Thin bar and that left me hungrrrry – I had to down a Chobani 2 hours later.

Now what am I going to do for dinner?

What eats to you want today?

Do you buy your lunch or pack it?
