Blondies, a baby shower, and a babysitter

Hey there,

It seems I’m not the only one with strong opinions about the ridiculousness that is 50 Shades of Grey Winking smile  I loved hearing the phrases that irked you.  Feel free to add more!

The title pretty sums up this weekend:

Blondies:

I had plans to meet up with my mommy group at a park on Friday and figured a sweet treat would be welcome.  That and I had to make something for Zach’s work for a certain someone.

Enter: Brown sugar butterscotch blondie bars!

I followed the recipe for Brown sugar chocolate chip bars with some minor changes – butterscotch chips, upped the vanilla, added cinnamon, and baked for closer to 50 minutes.

These bars were super sweet, but oh so very good.  I had a bit of a fat kid moment when it came to eating the ‘crust’ along the edges – love that part.  And they were a hit amongst friends as well.

A baby shower:

Saturday we were able to take part in a lovely surprise baby shower for one of Zach’s coworkers at his boss’s home.  The surprise went off without a hitch and the mom-to-be was none the wiser.  Success!  I didn’t take any pictures of the amazing food spread (mainly delicious Indian food), but trust me when I say my plates were shamefully large.  Oye.

I did however snap of pic of my new maxi dress with Zach and Naava’s butt.  Lovely, no?

The dress is Max Studio and the stripes are forest green.  Super comfy and a total steal at Marshalls Winking smile

A babysitter:

See that person hiding behind bean on a bike?  Yep, that’s his babysitter for the week.  Otherwise known as his Aunt Carly Open-mouthed smile  I think they are both pretty darn excited for some special bonding time and shenanigans.

How did you spend your weekend?

Shoes-Day! Taupe bootie repeat

Hey there!

How was everyone’s weekend and Monday?  I spent Friday night catching up with the faboosh Shayla of The Good Life over Mexi food.  Total win-win situation.  And she was so kind and got me a GC to a spa –  I’m making her go with me Winking smile  (twisting her arm on that one)

Saturday was spent steam cleaning carpets (oddly enough, I love this) and having a scrumptious dinner made by our friends Dan and Kate (thanks guys!).

Yesterday I began going through the claim process for reporting the butthead that hit my car in my apartment complex 2 weeks ago and didn’t leave a note.  Therefore I  have to pay the deductible to get a whole new bumper.  Let’s hope karma comes back and bites him (or her) in the booty.

Moving on…

Below is the outfit I wore Friday night to meet up with Shayla:

In the mix is a olive military jacket (via Marshalls), black ruffle top from White House Black Market, 7 for All Mankind jeans, and taupe patent leather booties by Steve Madden (gift from bestie!).

Here are the booties up close:

These shoes definitely have some height to go with their funk appeal.  I don’t wear them nearly enough but I should.  Next time around, I’ll wear them with skinny jeans – they get rather lost under a boot cut.

Oh and since the bean also joined us for dinner, here is what he wore:

Red plaid onesie and black pants from Baby Gap and brown knit booties from Shayla Smile

Do you think booties go better with skinny jeans or boot cut?  Or does it depend on the shoe?

Shoes-Day! Grey bootie repeat

Hi Friends!

Dare I say Fall is here and here to stay?  I sort of just a little bit really truly love it.

Bring on the boots and booties!

I showed you these Franco Sarto booties  nearly a year ago:

And on Saturday I decided to break them out for my day of shopping:

Nov 5 2011

In the outfit mix is a taupe-grey striped hooded tunic sweater from Marshalls (<$20 in Juniors Dept) and Pea in the Pod maternity ruched bottom leggings via Destination Maternity.  It seems so weird to be rockin’ what I consider a primarily 80’s look.  I’m sorry but I just think heels and leggings scream that decade!  I never really thought I’d embrace the look, but pregnancy has me looking at fashion in a whole new way!

I did get a great compliment while shopping about struttin’ in 3.5” heels and a baby bump Smile  Gotta love it!

What do you think about the 80’s look?  Have you been sportin’ any trends?

Booties or boots?
