Winner winner chicken dinner

Happy Friday!  My mood has improved and I’m off to celebrate my good friend Kurt’s wedding this weekend.  Yahooo!

Let’s get to the winner of Uncle Sam cereal, shall we?  There were 23 unique entries and random generator selected number 10…It’s Liz from Tip Top Shape and it sounds like she wanted the Honey Almond :)   Liz, please send me your info and I’ll pass it on to Annelies at Attune and make sure to congratulate her while you’re at it because Annelies is getting married this week!

Let’s all indulge a bit the weekend, k?  Maybe it will look something like this:

Thursday night champagne served in flutes purchased in Venice :)

Or if you are of the furry variety, maybe indulgence looks like this:

Naava getting every last bit of JIF

How are you going to indulge this weekend?

Uncle Sam wants me (and you!) to have some flava!

I think I’m having one of those weeks.  One where in a battle between funk and fun are in a battle, funk does a TKO to fun.  Yep, that’s what’s going on with me.  Last week was all business and excitement and this week is just blah with a capital B.  Anyone else feelin’ this way?

What helped boost the mood last week was another awesome surprise in the mail!  Annelies from Attune Foods informed me that she was sending me new Uncle Sam cereal flavors.  And what do you know, a few hours after receiving the email, these were on my doorstep:

Holy cereal!

That trio of happy is Honey Almond, Strawberry, and Mulitgrain.  Cereal, like PB, is a potential fat kid moment so I have to admit, I have hidden 2 of these 3 boxes so that my grubby mitts won’t go at all of ‘em at once!  What did I dig into first?

A nice big bowl so I can properly taste test ;)

What can I say?  I’m enticed by pretty pink and promises of fruit =)  My take?  Well, I’ll hit you with a negative first…it’s 240 cals for 3/4 cup.  That seems like a lot to a girl who isn’t able to control herself around cereal.  However, 3/4 cup of this cereal is FILLING!  That’s what I’m talking about!  Like the original Uncle Sam, it’s not overly sweet, but packs a nutritious punch and left me pleasantly full.  The strawberries held their own in the milk pool and kept their firmness and, of course, flava!

I can’t wait to try the Honey Almond next :)   I’m envisioning some baking opportunities with all 3.  Score!

How do you benefit from my windfall of cereal???

You get a box too! And because I was remiss in stating this last time: this is for US bloggies only.  I’m sorry Canada blog friends…you know who you are ;)

(Thanks Annelies :) )

To enter, you have to chances, by answering each of these questions separately:

  1. Which of the above 3 flavors do you want to try?
  2. Given a good nutrition profile (minimal ingredients, low sugar, etc), what is your idea of an acceptable calorie count for 3/4 cup of cereal?

Shoes-day!

Shoes-day Tuesday is here again.  And once again, they mystery Louboutins are not making an appearance.  Yeah, I’m lame I know.  BUT my hope is to wear them with a hot little black dress for a wedding this Saturday in Peoria so wait for ‘em.

What I really want to be showing you are boots, but since this weather seems to be breakin’ my balls (sorry for the crude expression, but if you know me in real life, you know I say this…a  lot!).  It’s supposed to be 88 degrees today in Sunnyvale.  Epic FAIL!  :(   It’s mid-October Mother Earth, can you kindly act like it?

So you’re going to get some pseudo-wannabe-Fall-wear with accompanying shoes.  I sported this casual outfit about 2 weeks ago to run errands.

Errand wear

Rolled up American Rag jeans, semi-shear lightweight navy button-down from NY&Co.  Shoes by Bongo.  They’re pretty cute close-up:

Fun Fall shoes

Hey, and what do you know, they match my throw pillows (fabric from mi madre when she visited China).  These are the only Bongo shoes I own and were given to me as gift.  I get tons of compliments on these preppy little pumps and they sport a very wearable heel at about 3.25″.  The only downside is that my (narrow) feet tend to slip around a bit.

Very schoolgirl-esque shoes though, no?

To make up for my lack of Louboutins, come visit me tomorrow where I’m hosting a giveaway :) :)

Are you having boots-weather yet?  If so, can I come visit? ;)

What do you think of patterened preppy shoes?
