Hey there
I want a weekend redo. Seriously. After this weekend, I just have to laugh at how things turned out.
Let’s start back with Thursday…
I came home and my nanny let me know that the cleaners never showed. I texted them (far more reliable than calling) and the conversation went something like this:
- Me: Hello, how come you never came today?
- Cleaners: We did.
- Me: No, you didn’t.
- Cleaners: Yes, we did.
- Me: No, I’m in my house, and it isn’t clean.
- Me: And, the check is still on the kitchen island.
- Cleaners: They tell me they came and cleaned your house.
- Cleaners: #998 right?
- Me: No, #999.
- Cleaners: Yes, that’s what we meant, sorry typo.
- Cleaners: They came in the unlocked home, cleaned and locked on the way out.
- Me: Yeah, that wasn’t my house since my nanny would have answered.
- Cleaners: Oh, they must have done the bldg next to you.
- Me: Okay
- Cleaners: You should go ask them
- Me: {beyond annoyed now} Um, I don’t care if you cleaned their house, you did not clean mine as I confirmed
- Cleaners: We cleaned someone’s house
- Me: That’s nice. It wasn’t mine.
- Cleaners: We are sorry, would you like to reschedule.
- Me: {Halleluja..sheesh} Yes please
Seriously? Seriously. They went into some other person’s house, cleaned it, wondered why they didn’t get paid, locked up, and left. Um, not normal.
Thursday night was a small beacon in an otherwise craptastic weekend. I met up with some of my fellow mommies at a wine bar in Mountain View and after settling down from my trying-to-find-parking rage, I had a blast! Love these ladies.
Friday wasn’t necessarily bad, just a bit more frustration here and there. I wanted to get a specific handmade gift and found out that it wouldn’t be ready in time for Xmas…here I thought I was nice and early, but apparently everyone else had the same idea. Sigh…
Saturday started out innocently enough, but seemed to catapult into blah pretty darn quickly.
I had to take my car in for an oil change and Zach was going to follow me and pick me up. Once I get there, Zach texted to tell me his battery was dead. Again. Meanwhile, the dealer is telling me that I too need a new battery and it is going to be $600 (!!!!) to replace and reprogram. GAH! I bit the bullet and told them to go ahead and luckily got a shuttle ride home.
Later in the afternoon, Zach, bean and I tried going to the mall (I had some stuff to return) and after circling the parking garage for 20 minutes, Zach gave up, dropped me off, and went to Golfsmith. The mall was a zoo. I swear, it rains a little in Cali and people all swarm to the mall. Annoying as all get out.
After a lackluster time at the mall (due to the insane crowds), we stalled in Starbucks (thank you two-for-one holiday deals) until my car is done. When I got to pick it up, they tell me my brake pads are due for replacement (as in overdue)…and that’s another $1500. Yowsa! I went in for a $100 oil change, not for over $2K in additional maintenance. #*@#*$&#*&@O*# A deep breath and let that one pass, since Zach and I had date night ahead.
Due to the craziness that was the Santana Row area, we avoided going to the new restaurant Veggie Grill, though I had been salivating over it. No matter since the true intent of our evening was to see Argo. Last minute, we decided to go to Napoletana Pizzeria in Mountain View. It was fantastic. Seriously a bright spot in the day. We split a salad as well as the ricotta stuffed pizza. Delish. Okay, so we head to the movie theater which is packed (thanks to Twilight) but are still just over 20 min early for our showtime. Movie is sold out. Really? Yes, really, even though Argo has been out for weeks. Next option, Skyfall. Oops, also sold out. Seriously not our weekend. We headed home and watched Savages instead (quite good I must say).
So yeah, there you have it. A weekend FAIL. Luckily there were some redeeming ‘wins’ like bean’s laughing kicks, fabulous pizza, an awesome spontaneous Sunday massage, and sharing vino with friends.
I gotta believe that a weekend like that just means that Thanksgiving weekend is going to be fabulous! Have I ever mentioned that it is my favorite holiday? Baking is on deck: 2 pumpkin pies, and 2 apple crisps. Mmmmmmmmm.
(If you made it through that tirade, congrats! I hope to be more chipper next time around
)
