As I was thinking about to write, I knew I’d be publishing this post as I was head to the airport for my last flight of the year!  I have no more trips on deck for the remainder of my 2nd trimester and they don’t recommend flying in the 3rd, so hallelujah, this is it Open-mouthed smile

Good moods are nice

I feel like this :D

I’m writing this Wednesday night and just feel good about the day — don’t you love when that happens?

My fat kid eating ceased today and I feel great about that.  I’ve had much more balanced meals and no crazy snacking and not only does my body feel good, but mentally I feel much more at ease.

Tonight after work I had preplanned to head to Denver’s alternative to Trader Joe’s:

This place is pretty freakin’ awesome.  Aisles of bins of food from chocolates to oats to seeds to coffee beans.  Love that.  They also had a ton of brands that I had never heard of including my choice of dinner which was frozen veggie enchiladas by Cedar Lane (280 cals, 18 g protein) and it was tasty :P   I liked that Sunflower Market had a combo of mainstream options like Kashi, PB&Co (they had White Chocolate Wonderful), but also stocked more unique healthy options like Trader Joe’s.  The only downside is that I thought it was pricey — at least pricier than TJ’s.

I managed to get some nice ab work and resistance training while watching one of my favorite shows:

How hot was the first routine with Ryan?  She’s one of my faves ;)

And to top things off, I had a great day at work.  don’t talk about my professional life that much and that is purposeful.  However, speaking in generalities, today include some of the things I love about my career:

  1. Listening to powerful executives give inspirational speeches that truly motivate me
  2. “Fighting fires” — I love the thrill and adrenaline rush of dealing with a ‘hot’ issue that needs to be dealt with on the fly
  3. Presenting / public speaking — when I’m describing something technical it’s one of the few times I feel completely at ease, empowered, and confident.  I love it!
  4. Conversing with coworkers.  This may sound silly but most of my team resides in Denver so I’m awfully isolated in Cali and it gets lonely.  It’s so great to have the energy around me!

Those are just a few, but it made it a good day and I’ll take one where I can get one!

What are you loving about work lately?

Have you been to a Sunflower Market?

Any faves on So You Think You Can Dance?

WIAW and a makeover

Hi there –

My Denver trip is keeping me quite busy, but in a good way overall.  I hate being bored so pile on the millions of things and I’ll be a much happier girl.

But I have to admit, that I have been engaged in some mindless eating.  So much so that I did this:

I had too much Love for the granola

Yeah, I did throw away half my bag of Cran-Pecan Love Granola :(   Frankly, I actually didn’t care for this flavor as much — it tasted burnt…anyone else have that experience?  I do however still adore the almond-raisin and chocolate.  Either way, I was munching away on something I didn’t like consuming hundreds of calories for no reason.

I confess that I also did this with a bag of jellybeans.  You see, when I’m forced to be in meetings all day, my narcoleptic tendencies kick in so I like to have some sort of candy (usually portioned into a serving size) to keep me alert.  Well, err, without that portion sizing, I end up eating nearly the entire bag.  I’m so ashamed.  Really.

Mindless eating isn’t actually all that mindless after all.  When I step back and think about why I’m so called mindlessly eating it, I realize it’s almost always because of some underlying anxiety I’m feeling.  And frankly, I am anxious.  I have a lot of things on my mind as of late and can’t seem to quiet all the thoughts.  So I eat.

I’m trying not to beat myself up about it and instead focus on how I can turn this around into more thoughtful eating, while simultaneously trying to tackle this anxiousness.  Wish me luck?

Alright, back to WIAW:

My WIAW is going to be somewhat pathetic, I must say.  I only have my iPhone to snap pictures and forgot to get a shot of half my food.  Oops.

Breakfast: Not worth a picture.  I had a NuGo Dark and some coffee.  My hotel didn’t have the yogurt-granola-to-go today so I opted for a protein bar I brought.

Snack: red vines from meeting and jelly beans (oops)

Lunch: Totally forgot to take a photo, but it was a mexi buffet that was catered.  I had a bed of lettuce, spanish rice, black beans, tomatoes, topped with a bit of cheese and salsa.

Snack: err, more jellybeans, a banana (stolen from hotel), and a decaf latte (I was sooo cold in the room)

Dinner:

Dinner was held here:

Not a bad view, eh?

Walnut cran salad with a mocktail of soda water, pineapple juice and grenadine
Vegetarian option: puff pastry filled with veggies, atop light layer of marinara (pretty good actually!)

Snack: well based on the first picture, you can surmise that it was too much granola

Ugh.

But today is a new day and I can start revamping my eating today and that’s what I shall do!

How do you combat mindless eating?

Have you ate too much of something lately?
