30 more minutes?

Happy Monday to ya!

Yesterday morning during Spin, the instructor asked us about 30 minutes into class, “who wants to go 30 minutes longer?”  Had I not consumed 5 days worth of food at La Fondue last night, I might have not raised my hand.  But I was in it for the long haul.  Usually Spin is about 45-50 minutes with a few teachers stretching to 55 minutes.  A 75 minute class may be borderline cruelty. I have a feeling I’m going to be quite sore today.

Speaking of La Fondue, it was date night for Zach and me.  And also a joint birthday celebration since we both share January birthdays and likely wouldn’t go out for each.  I think I was as excited to dress up as I was to eat 4 decadent courses:

You gotta also appreciate the background babygate decor right (and the horribly fuzzy photos..sheesh)?  I thought about taking pics during dinner, but meh, didn’t feel like it.  After feasting and drinking for over 2.5 hours straight, I looked like I was about 5 months pregnant.  I vowed not to eat ever again…or until yesterday morning.  Whichever came first.

The rest of the weekend was filled with the usual including errands, coffee breaks, lunch meet ups, mommy group, and Indian food for dinner Friday:

Vindaloo paneer (sadly the curry was jarred, but the paneer was sautéed separately along with red onions and peas), plus roasted cauliflower with turmeric, and a bit of rice and tortilla (sub for the naan).  Quite good, but I’m dying for some Darbar in Palo Alto.   Any takers?

Oh I also baked some cranberry, white chocolate chip oatmeal cookies (recipe from the container of oats).  Again, no pictures, because I was too lazy.  And a note to Zach’s coworkers, he was supposed to bring about 2 dozen of them to work on Friday but he forgot, so I had to pawn them off elsewhere ;)

And with that, time to get this week started….

Since I last wrote…

Hey there friends!

Monday again.  My blogging is so sporadic lately.  I go in spurts and though I had plenty to say last week, I found myself in a rut.  This rut seems to be rearing its ugly head more frequently than I’d like.  But that is another story.

Since last I wrote, I’ve gone to Spin class twice!  Open-mouthed smile  I rejoined my gym last Wednesday evening and am already happy with my decision to do so.  I also utilized my work gym for a lunch workout on Thursday and had a personal training session on Saturday.  It feels so good to have a consistent workout schedule, though mommy guilt is ever present (<—a topic I’ll post later this week).

Since last I wrote, Zach and I had a date night.  We’ve had about a handful since bean was born and it feels like such a luxury to have a night out to ourselves.  We were aiming for a movie, but Zach wants to wait until Magic Mike comes out {I kid}.  I also got to break out some new colored denim:

Since last I wrote, I’ve managed to get two horrible stomachaches.  I’m trying to pinpoint what it is that’s giving me such pain and I’m thinking either my beloved Think Thin bars or Smartdogs.  Both of which would be a shame since I rely on them for my protein.  It has given me reason to evaluate my eats as of late and it’s motivating me to eat as simple and minimally processed items as possible.  I have to wonder if my recent ruts have something to do with diet as well.

Since last I wrote, Bean has tried fruits, in the way of pureed pears.

He ate them with his usual gusto.  However, I’m suspending solids for a few days because of the ridiculous amount he is pooing – we’re talking upwards of 5x per day.  That can’t be normal, right?

Since I last wrote, my laptop officially died.  One minute it was working, the next the screen wouldn’t come on and the power would cycle on and off.  Considering it’s about 6 years old, I shouldn’t be surprised.  Zach is currently trying to save my life pictures & documents on my hard drive. He’s also trying to convince me to get a Mac.  Admittedly I’m rather entranced by the MacBook Air.  But buying a new laptop is duller than dull, in my opinion.  I’d much rather buy some new shoes Winking smile

What have you been up to since last I wrote?

What colored denim are you sporting?  I’m still searching for some mint jeans.

PC or Mac?

Weekend fun

Happy Monday my friends – how goes it?

My in-laws were visiting again this weekend.  Soybean is one lucky boy!

Jan 29 2012 Poppy Cookie 2

We are all so, so lucky to have everyone so willing to travel to visit our little man.  It means the world to me that he is around his grandparents and aunt (uncle is coming soon!).

In keeping with our normal routine, we’ve had a few excursions.  The main one being a 4 mile hike where we saw people walking their lama and their goat – on a leash – on the trail.  Where’s my camera when I needed it? Smile with tongue out  That hike was followed by froyo of course.

Zach and I also got in a mini-date since we had a built-in babysitter Smile

Unfortunately it was pretty short, not because we didn’t trust Cookie (we had the nanny cam on her..kidding!), but because our service at the Mexi restaurant was a little too quick.  I find that annoying actually.  Going out to eat is an event and we really wanted to sit and enjoy it a bit more.  Sigh..maybe next date night…whenever that might be Winking smile

And yesterday I was able to finally make use of my Christmas gift from my SIL Carly –> donuts in my new donut pan using Stonewall Kitchen pumpkin donut mix with maple glaze.

Sweet baby jesus these are good.  I want to hoard Stonewall mixes and make these daily.  Definite yum!

As of right now, I have absolutely no plans for the week so I’m thinking I’m going to have to get creative for some excursions to entertain me and the bean.

Have you made donuts yet?  Please please please send me your favorite (easy) recipes!

Does overly speedy service annoy you?
