Naava and I want to wish you a happy Friday Smile

Want to know what’s really great about this particular Friday?  My Dad is visiting from Wisconsin! He arrived last night and it was only his 2nd trip on a plane!  Amazing, right?

Since I haven’t seen him since last May (2010), we have a lot to catch up.

So to keep this short and sweet, I’m borrowing the Five Things survey that’s been floating around and last seen on Julie’s blog – thanks Julie Winking smile

WIAW: Moms-to-be brunch edition

Shout out to Jenn at Peas and Crayons for this weeks What I Ate Wednesday Smile

One thing preggers ladies desperately need is camaraderie.  We are going through crazy changes and, frankly, our hubbies just don’t get it.  They may try, but it’s futile.  Until their uterus ligaments start stretching and causing pain, they just won’t know.

That’s where other pregger mamas come into play!

I know about 7 people that are pregnant, and 3 of them live right in the area!  WIN!  And in turn they know people too, so I’m hoping to get  regular moms-to-be meet-ups happening.

This Saturday I hosted for 3 lovely ladies and decided to do a brunch…

Outfit du jour: black capri leggins from Forever 21, dress from Alloy (I think?), large oversized black belt (very old), tippy toes (mine…I don’t know how to be flat-footed!)

008 (12)

Included in the goodies were:

  • Orange Strawberry Banana juice or Pellegrino (or if you’re me, mix the two!)
  • Chocolate Raspberry Coffee – decaf of course!  Served with either vanilla creamer or milk and sugar
  • Chobani Lemon Cranberry scones (you see see the recipe (variation) on Chobani’s website)
  • Mixed berries – strawberries and blackberries –> fyi, Target often sells berries for much cheaper than the grocery store.  The berries were served with fat-free vanilla yogurt

We also looked at a few of my books (and got freaked out by some graphic photos about childbirth Disappointed smile)

015 (10)

I was hoping we’d have some good convo for about an hour, 2 max, but we kept chatting for nearly 3 hours!  I loved it!  Preggers women have oh so much to say and share.  And all privacy goes out the window.

Here’s a shot of the ladies:

016 (8)

Left to Right: Jeannie (due Jan 3); Jennifer (due Dec 15); Alice (due Nov 16); Me (due Dec 26)

We’ve already mentioned future meet ups that will also revolve around food – I’m thinking pizzas and ice-cream.  NOM!  Or perhaps we’ll eat AND we’ll treat ourselves to prenatal massages and/or pedis!

When you have get togethers, do you build it around food?

Favorite brunch dish?  Brunch to me still means indulging in 99% breakfast foods…and if I wasn’t preggers, a few Mimosas or Bloody Mary’s Winking smile

Preferences

Wow, can I just say thank you for all being so supportive and non-judgmental in my post about drinking coffee and wine while pregnant?  You guys rock!  In fact, many of you agreed with me whether you already are preggers or will be someday.   Hugs to all of you!

Friday posts are always a little hard because the weekend is near and I feel like my brain is already shutting off from the blogosphere at this point.

But then my mind got to wandering on Thursday and as I was going about my normal day-to-day stuff, I started thinking of preferences.

So here are some of mine.

Given the choice of any Greek Yogurt, give me Chobani any day.  Others just don’t measure up (Fage, Dannon, Oikos).

If I could only have one piece of cardio equipment in a gym (apartment or hotel gym), I’d pick the treadmill – I quite like that ‘dreadmill’ as many call it!

When exercise, I prefer cardio over weights, but try to sneak them in when I can.

When drinking vino, my preference will always be red.  I cant’ really stand white anymore, unless it’s champagne Smile with tongue out

May 29 2010

If I had a Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme next door, I’d always pick the DD for my donut Winking smile

A choice of Peet’s vs Starbucks coffee will always lead me to Peet’s.  I never thought I’d say that, but Peet’s has been winning my hear in the last year.

My perfect pizza will always be deep dish or at least a thick crust.  I’m rarely satisfied by thin crust pizza.

Heels vs flat shoes?  Do you even have to wonder?  Heels all the way!

Not so easy preferences…

Gold or silver jewelry.  I used to prefer silver, but I’m loving gold especially in the summer against lightly tanned skin!

Blonde or brown hair?  Blonde is slightly easier to maintain, but I love the look of brown hair.  Oh what to do!

Beach vacations or European vacations?  They both have their merits.  I love the relaxation of the beach, but the excitement of having tons to do and sites to see.

Okay that’s long enough..your turn to pick a few ;)

Crusty pizza or thin crust?

Starbucks coffee or other?

Gold or silver?

And which hair color should I go with???
