Shoes-Day! Taupe bootie repeat

Hey there!

How was everyone’s weekend and Monday?  I spent Friday night catching up with the faboosh Shayla of The Good Life over Mexi food.  Total win-win situation.  And she was so kind and got me a GC to a spa –  I’m making her go with me Winking smile  (twisting her arm on that one)

Saturday was spent steam cleaning carpets (oddly enough, I love this) and having a scrumptious dinner made by our friends Dan and Kate (thanks guys!).

Yesterday I began going through the claim process for reporting the butthead that hit my car in my apartment complex 2 weeks ago and didn’t leave a note.  Therefore I  have to pay the deductible to get a whole new bumper.  Let’s hope karma comes back and bites him (or her) in the booty.

Moving on…

Below is the outfit I wore Friday night to meet up with Shayla:

Feb 24 2012 1Feb 24 2012 2

In the mix is a olive military jacket (via Marshalls), black ruffle top from White House Black Market, 7 for All Mankind jeans, and taupe patent leather booties by Steve Madden (gift from bestie!).

Here are the booties up close:

These shoes definitely have some height to go with their funk appeal.  I don’t wear them nearly enough but I should.  Next time around, I’ll wear them with skinny jeans – they get rather lost under a boot cut.

Oh and since the bean also joined us for dinner, here is what he wore:

Red plaid onesie and black pants from Baby Gap and brown knit booties from Shayla Smile

Do you think booties go better with skinny jeans or boot cut?  Or does it depend on the shoe?

Shoes-Day!

Hi friends – are you sick of Shoes-Day Tuesday yet?  I hope not, because I happened to have bought a few pair of new shoes in the last few weeks.  But it’s not my fault.  I swear.  My Magic 8 Ball made me Winking smile

I kid of course, but I do remember having one of these and being quite pleased when the answer suited my needs.  When it didn’t I’d throw it against a wall keep asking until I got the answer I wanted.

Okay back to the shoes.

I’ve had a GC from Victoria’s Secret burning a hole in my wallet since February, so when their shoe catalogue came, I instantly knew what I had to have:

023 (7)

Blue shoes?  Heck, why not.  I have blue suede pumps, and my blue peacock pumps, but no strappy blue wedges.  Therefore I had to buy.

I kind of think they are fantastic.  The straps hurt my pinky toe a bit, but no pain, no gain, right?

I think these were originally $55, but were marked down to $29 (I tried to check, but it appears they are sold out).

I paired them with a work outfit (on a Thursday before an off-Friday, hence the jeans):

The top is by Kenra (I think) and from Marshalls and the jeans are 7 for all Mankind.  Gold and silver link necklace from Macy’s.

What do you think of blue shoes?

Are you an avid VS shopper?

Fess up, did you ever make decisions based on the Magic 8 Ball?

Shoes-Day!

After professing my love for boots for the last few chilly months, I think I’m ready for sandals.  My poor toes are looking to break free and I’m dying to purchase a plethora of new totally needed sandals.

But red high heels are good anytime of the year, no?

One of my fondest red high heel memories is with my bestie in 2004 down in LA.  She had come down to visit me for the weekend and we decided to do it up as two single girls on the town would do (insert eveil laugh here).  We decided to get these crazy strong drinks called “Navy Grogs” on Manhattan Beach Blvd (in Manhattan Beach), which certainly left us feeling, err, tipsy.  Then we decided we’d walk the 1+ mile to Harry O’s.  What does this have to do with red heels?  I was borrowing Andrea’s faboosh shoes (4″ mind you) that night.  It’s a good thing we were tipsy because walking that far in those killer heels would have been the ruin of me.  I’m quite certain there was blood in them at the end of the night (TMI?).

Anyway, I still have a fondness for red heels, but now I wear them in a more subdued manner, like with this work outfit:

Love the days I can wear jeans to work

Jeans: 7 for all Mankin.  Jacket: NY&Co.  Satin ruffled tank: Kendra.

Here’s a close up of the shoes:

Boutique 9 red pumps

I bought these Boutique 9 (sister of Nine West) at Marhsalls in 2007-ish I’m guessing for less than $50.  I love the quilting and stitching as an extra flair.  And these puppies are comfy.  Perhaps I should put them to the real test and walk a mile to a bar in them ;)

And besides all that, I love a punch of color to an otherwhat subdued outfit.

2 Fun Facts for you:  1) US Today reports that the average number of shoes a US woman has is 17; 2) Today is my 200th post :)

What “punch of color” do you like to add to your look?

And…nothing to do with shoes…what did you think of the the Bachelor’s pick?
