38 weeks and 2 days pregnancy update

Good morning my friends!

Can you believe we’re only 10 days away from Christmas?  It always creeps up so fast, but really the anticipation is the best.  I plan to do a little Xmas post tomorrow so stay tuned.

As you know, I had my 38 week (and 2 day) doc appt yesterday, so I’ll get right to it!

Let’s revisit the “By the numbers”:

  • Weeks into pregnancy: 38 weeks (38 weeks, 3 days today)
  • Days to go: 11 days (as of today) Open-mouthed smile
  • Weeks into maternity leave: 2.5 weeks
  • Pounds gained: 25.8 lbs (up 0.8 lbs from 2 weeks ago) (average weight gain is between 25 and 30 pounds at this point, though this close, it could be the recommended 25-35 lbs)
  • Current waist size (measured at belly button): 38 inches (no change from 2 weeks ago)
  • Fundal length: 37 cm (up 2 cm from 2 weeks ago)
  • Baby weight:  Average is 6.3 lbs
  • Baby position: Still head down and dropped low into my pelvis(I’m still not waddling though)
  • Baby length: ~20+ inches head-to-toe on average
  • Effacement: >50% (more effaced than last time, but difficult to gauge exact percentage)
  • Dilation: 0 cm
  • Kick Count Card: started at 28 weeks (Oct 3rd) – 10 baby movements are occurring in about 10 minutes (20 minutes tops).  Sawyer was crazy active for 3 hours Friday night.  It was nuts!
  • Stretch marks: 0 (or at least no new ones – I’ve always had them on my upper outer thighs, but none on belly so far)
  • Number of false alarms: 1
  • Number of prenatal massages: 5!

I still am feeling pretty darn great.  I think my antsy-ness trumps any discomfort.  Though I have been having some killer lower back pains followed by little nerve pinches.

Contractions seem to have started too, along with more cramping.  This is completely normal and my body preparing for birth, but it’s hard to know when it will be the real thing based on these weird aches, pains, and tightness I’m having.

The swelling is still there if not a bit worse.  I only can tell because my pants and socks will leave indent marks on my skin.  This is usually the result of me being too active during the day, which is, err, pretty much every day Winking smile

Acid reflux is gone for now, but if I eat Thai or Mexi, I’m sure I’ll get another bout.  Oh joy!

Honestly, I’m really ready for Sawyer to arrive.  Everything is set up, organized, and prepped.  Mentally and emotionally I am more than ready to welcome him into my arms.  I’m hoping it’s any day at this point!

Last but not least – 2 photos from 37.5 weeks:

Sawyer’s nursery

Good morning friends!

Today marks my 38th week of pregnancy.  Holy god that’s a long time.  I’m definitely at the point where I waver between wanting him to bake a bit longer (say a week) and ready for him to join the world.  I’m think this coming weekend is an awesome time for him to arrive Winking smile  I’ll do a 38 week update after my doctor’s appointment on Wednesday.

This weekend was a pretty good one.   Granted we had to cancel on the SF dinner party on Friday night as well as Zach’s work Christmas party (also in SF) because frankly I just couldn’t do it at 38 weeks.  Instead, both nights were low key and Saturday and Sunday were more filled with fun Smile with tongue out

Saturday I met up with Miss Shayla, whom I adore, for some much needed girl chat and making of pecan pie cookies.  We managed to not take a single picture because we were gabbing too much of course, but if we would have taken pics, it probably would have been of the creeper at the Mountain View Starbucks who seemed to have a slight obsession with us.  Weird.

Sunday we got our Christmas tree –yay!  I’ll show pics later this week of the work in progress and the end product.  We also went to our friend’s pre-baby party and their spread of food was so fabulous I’m kicking myself for not takings pics.  So freakin’ good!

Okay onto the nursery, right?

I really wanted to go for a color scheme that flowed with the rest of our home, which has a lot of calming greens and browns, but splashes of yellow and red.  I also knew I didn’t want to go traditional blue for a boy, but was rather stuck on thinking of a set theme.  Zach actually had stronger opinions and really liked the ideas of monkeys so that’s what eventually we ended up threading throughout.

Being that we rent, we are obviously limited in how much we can do and how much space, but I think we made it work Winking smile

I have to admit that I often just come in the room and look around.  I’m quite in love with it.  I just melt at knowing he will be here soon and getting to wear the sweet clothes, sleep on my chest, and have tummy time in the boppy.  It’s all so very real!

If you have a baby, what is your nursery theme or color?

If babies are in your future, any thoughts on what your nursery would like?

And for those where b-a-b-y is a 4 letter word, what fun thing did you do this weekend?

Shoes-Day! Maternity fashion edition (3rd tri)

Good morning my friends!

Before I start my post, I have to confess I had a bit of a fat kid moment last night and feel like total poop about it.  Sad smile  With all the indulgent eating this weekend, I had planned to get back on track yesterday and it went great…until I arrived home.  I finished off my sweet swap cookies along with 2 maple cupcakes (that I made for the baby shower).  Then I followed it by eating the last 1/10th of jar of PB&Co Mighty Maple.  Sigh.  No control.  I was racked with guilt for the rest of the night.  Grrr….

But today is a new day and I’m determined to have a wee bit more discipline.

Moving on…

For this Shoes-Day post, I’m going to show you that 3rd trimester pregnancy doesn’t mean flat shoes or tennis (unless you want to, that is Winking smile )

September 19 2011Oct 4 2011 2

The shoes featured in both of these outfits are Me Too black patent leather pumps with a great tread.  They are comfy, basic and go with a ton.
On the left: Black maternity skirt from Mom’s the Word, basic white tank from Target and military jacket from Marshalls
On the right: maxi maternity skirt from Destination Maternity (love this skirt), teal tank from Old Navy, and tweed taupe blazer from NY&Co signature line.

These boots are some of my absolute fave brown boots – they are Alfani and purchased from Macy’s a few years ago.  I paired them with black Old Navy maternity pants and a loose tan/taupe Dolman knit from Marshalls.

Just like black bumps, a girl needs brown pumps.  These are Jessica Simpson crocodile patterned purchased from Marshalls.  The wool plaid skirt is a recent love from Pea in the Pod (via Destination Maternity) – so great for Fall!  A cheap-o tank from Forever 21 and black cardi from Express completes the outfit.

Who doesn’t love polka-dots?  These Jessica Simpson black shoes were a Christmas present from the hubby in 2006.  I channeled my inner 80’s chick with cropped Forever 21 leggings (non-maternity) and a loose teal Forever 21 tunic (non-maternity).

And finally, I embraced our Cali warm spell last week and wore my strappy brown sandals by Enzo Angiolini, which I bought through DSW.com.  The jeans are boot cut Motherhood Maternity brand, with the same taupe Forever 21 top, and taupe/white striped cardi from Marshalls. (This is the outfit that went with yesterday’s side profile pic of the belly growth Smile with tongue out)

Admittedly my uber high heels are starting to gather dust and I’m opting for more wedges, lower heels, wider bases, etc.  But I’m not giving up quite yet Winking smile  I still want to incorporate fun fashionable choices as long as my comfort isn’t too compromised!

Have you had any life situations that have required a change in footwear choices?

Pumps? Boots? Sandals?  Which reigns supreme?

Have any recent fat kid moments like mine???
