Workin’ it out — vacation style

It’s the end of my 1.5 day workweek and I’m stoked.  On my agenda today is some work, shopping, a pedi, and some girl time!  Yay for Fridays :)

My one and only motivation for working out on vacation is to eat and drink more.  Yep, I said it.  I own it.

But being that it’s vacation, I for one don’t like going the traditional gym route.  Enter diversity!

Paddleboarding in Hanalei Bay (the last time I went was in Tahoe):

Bestie and I just settin' out

And I'm up!

Kim and I coming in to give the boys a try

Hike the Napali Coast:

Not a shabby view, eh?

Rough traversing

Our ocean view lunch location on the hike

Beach yoga:

Tree pose

Standing bow

Running:  Um yeah…no pics of this, but I did run just under 2.5 miles along the North shore on Thursday, Sunday, and Tuesday.  Running in Kauai is so much more fun than on the mainland ;)

Am I an advocate for working out on vacation?  Meh.  If you have time and want to, go for it.  Otherwise, take a break and enjoy your new and temporary surroundings!

If you workout on vacation, what’s your favorite way to get the heart rate up?

Best form of non-traditional exercise? For me, paddleboarding!

Shoes-Day!

Aloha! 8)

I’m writing from our layover in Oahu en route back home (insert unhappy face here).

I was clearly remiss in my blogging over my vacation, but I just couldn’t bring myself to face a computer when I could face this:

"Our" beach at Haena

So back to Shoes-Day…well the sun hasn’t completely fried my brain.  I’m well aware that it’s not Tuesday, but hey I’m still on island time ;)

And in true island fashion, check out what I sported during 90% of my time on Kauai:

"Shark beach" and bare feet

Yep that’s right, who needs shoes when you’re on the beach the entire time.  It was just me and my newly purchased plaid Hilfiger flip-flops (via Marshalls).

And that my friends is the best way to rock Shoes-Day =)

I didn’t even miss adding 4″ to my 5’4.5″ frame.  Who knew!

Stay tuned for more Kauai recaps…and until then…

What is your favorite brand of flip-flops? I tend to go with whatever I think is cute and has a tiny bit of wedge or platform ;)
