Hey there,
What a weekend! Fall was in the air, I met up with multiple friends, tackled to-do lists, and ate and drank to my heart’s content.
Our friends (expecting a baby in Jan!) offered to make us dinner on Friday night at our place — who are we to say no? It was one of those last minute things that worked out really nicely.
Saturday was spent prepping for our friends (and baby) to come over for “linner” (since the babies go to sleep between 7 and 8). The Fall-inspired menu included:
- Roasted beets on top of a honey-chevre covered crostini
- Add’l cheese: jarlsberg and wasabi gouda (not as spicy as I would have liked)
- Pumpkin salsa soup (turned out super spicy)
- Pear arugula salad with red onions, toasted slivered almonds, and more chevre
- Homemade applecrisp and vanilla bean ice cream
Err, and a few bottles of wine.
And moving on to the main point of this post: shoes. Well boots, anyway.
A few weeks ago, my bestie let me know that Endless.com was having a 20% (add’l) off all boots sale. So I had to look. Just to see what was out there. Well, I found these Frye boots. I loved the gathered sleeve-like leather at the top.
And paired with a cute dog and a great Fall purse:
I wouldn’t want to pay full price for these, but luckily at the time, they were on sale for $275ish and then with the additional 20% off, they came to only $222. Not bad, not bad. I went with the Dark Brown because that is the one color seriously lacking in my boot collection. And come to find out, my BIL’s fiancee bought the same pair, only in Cognac.
Note, these are my normal size 7.5 and I have plenty of room for some thick socks. I might have been able to go with a size 7, but figured it was better to have some room than be too tight given the pitch of the heel.
Since it was about 75 deg out, I didn’t end up wearing the boots with the outfit, but now I’m really itching to wear them. Perhaps I should just turn on the air conditioning and wear them around the house?

You’re looking amazing! That dinner menu sounds incredible too – where was my invite?!
xoxo
Thanks Claire — you have an open invitation any time you are in Cali!
Jealous of your Frye boots! I was drooling over them Friday night when out shopping with my momma!
They should be your reward after you compete!
oooh I’ve been searching for a casual heeled boot and these look perfect! You are a bad influence on me
Nonsense! I am an excellent influence on you!
They look great. Glad you got them!
Haha, you made me Josh!
I totally love that Naava counts as an accessory. She’s so fashionable in her fall fur!
And I love those boots too. Though I wish I could see them in person with all their glory… they’re too dark to see the real detail in these pics. Soon though….
Hurray for boots!!!
Yes Naava is wearing her Fall fur.hehe
I took a close up pic, but I have no idea where it went on my Mac..doh! That’s why the link is there
The shoes are back! YAYYYYY. Hehe I laughed a bit about the fall fur. Have a good week!
Yup and I even snapped a photo today for shoesday next week!
Those boots are amazing! I would never buy boots for $200 + though haha we are on a budget but you are rockin’ em momma!
They were a splurge for sure. I won’t be buying anymore pricey shoes/boots this season =)
Looking chic as always, girl!! I am totally drooling over that dinner menu and I will totally replicate it one of these days.. I love when I can eat everything on the menu
Me too Priya! We need to have you guys over sometime soon. When do you go back to work?
Oct 1!! But I will be heading over the office today for a few hours this week just to catch up on stuff.. sigh – where did the time go??
Booo! Enjoy your last week with Y
I want to love Frye’s but I’m just not sure I do. I think it’s the price tag thats’s deterring me. I really like that pair, though!
PS You look GREAT. Are you sure you had a baby??
These were the first Frye’s that I actually really wanted..there’s no way I would have bought them for nearly $400 though.
(And thank you! for the compliment)
Ah Frye… so beautiful! lol
And wasabi flavored didn’t bring the heat? Weirdly disappointing…
I know right…I wanted that ‘sting your nose’ kind of feeling
I love those boots! Frye’s are pricey but they will last forever!! I think I still have a pair from high school! Whenever I buy cheapy boots they look like hell by the end of the season. Then again I doubt you’re boots need to withstand the slush, ice, and salt of New England winters! Another reason you need to move to Boston – put those boots to good use
Very true! My boots only get wussy weather experience. I’d love to tromp through some snow in them
Adorable boots!! I just bought a pair from Target and am obsessed with them.
Nice! Show them!
You look GREAT, Shanna!
Aww thanks Courtney
SO jealous of the boot wearing weather that’s coming you way soon! I’m itching for Fall temperatures – like “I don’t care if I look crazy for wearing boots while the rest of the state is in flip flops” kind of itching!
Glad to hear things are great!
Haha…well we’re about get a heat wave so I’m thinking my boots have a few more weeks. I say rock the boots FL girl!
I am absolutely dying to wear my boots! As soon as it stays cool consistently, those suckers aren’t leaving my feet.
Oh, Frye boots. Those are on my wishlist.
I love the fall outfit! It’s starting to cool off here…I’m thinking that I need to invest in a few pieces to get me excited for the season.
Yes, that’s precisely what you should do Megan
I love those boots. I need new boots so badly – and by need I mean want.
I LOVE those boots! They are super cute! I really need to revamp my whole closet! I’ve been shopping too much for Cameryn and neglecting myself lately!!!
Those boots are SO cute and worth the investment!!!
Love your boots! I agree with Kjirsten, this mama needs to think about her wardrobe some too, yoga pants aren’t cutting it anymore. haha
