Hey there
Really long time, no blog, huh? Why? Well I haven’t been feeling it. There are a number of things nagging me lately about blogging, but I haven’t been able to quite formulate my thoughts in a way that doesn’t sound overly negative or critical.
In general, I’m not sure I fit (if ever) in the HLB (Healthy Living Blogs) community mainly because I don’t subscribe to the same approach to healthy living as many of the others (many whom I’ve met and truly like). It feels like instead of just writing my daily ramblings for whatever they’re worth, I feel compelled to almost market myself. That’s a loaded statement that needs some more explanation, which I may give at some point.
What does this mean? Well, truthfully, I’m not sure. Maybe just writing this is the kick-start I need to start blogging again or maybe it’s time for a break. Time will tell, right?
And since I can’t help myself, I have to share a picture of bean at the SF Ferry Building Farmer’s Market this past Saturday. When all else fails, post cute photo of baby

You could just have pictures of that cutie and I’d come back for more! lol I feel you about not fitting in exactly in the HLB community. That’s why I turned mine fully into a food blog. I didn’t like the format of posting my meals and such. Anyhoo, a blog is so personal, you should just do what you want! The readers should stick around regardless
Thanks Liz – I wish I could post on your blog more, but I swear your comment service doesn’t like me
Your food creations have been top notch lately!
Aww thanks!! Yeah, I don’t know why Blogger is wonky with the comments
I’ve actually considered switching over to WordPress, but I keep dragging my heels on it.
Yes please switch to wordpress
I would be totally fine just looking at pictures of that cutie pie and hearing some of your stories!!!
Gotta love that two Liz’s were the first to comment =P
Thanks for the support!
I found that my long break was so helpful. I just want to blog and keep track of my life and talk with people. Make it fun again.
Exactly! I’m loving your Cora posts!!!
Blogging is really tough sometimes. You have the cutest little baby boy. Seriously, look at that smile!! Post more pics!!
Thanks girl!
My inspiration can’t quit! Of course you have to do what is right for you but I will miss your blogs.
Haha, but what if it’s the circle of life for blogs? One dies and one is born
PS I’ll probably stick around for awhile..may just be a different tone
Hi Shanna,
Please don’t stop blogging. I love your posts and its perfectly fine to have a different tone/format than other “samey” blogs. I feel like you are real to yourself and your life and that is the way it should be – plus we would miss the gorgeous baby photos!

Thanks for the support Lesley
There’s nothing wrong with being a lifestyle blog. We keep coming back for shoes, advice, recipes, and for you! A blog is a very personal thing. The ones that stand out are the ones that are unique and that don’t fit into a “mold.”
But i’m with you, i struggle posting at least once a week these days. i go in and out, and this summer i was out. but if i stick to once a week i’ll be pretty happy with myself. it’s good to have that light and girly escape when you need it!
That’s a great approach Mila — maybe that’s how I need to look at it: a once a week thing versus daily.
And I give advice? Uh oh
haha why yes! i’ve learned more than i’ve ever heard about pregnancy. and i’ve made many new recipes, and may have been inspired to buy one pair (or maybe two) of shoes i’ve seen around these parts
Mwuahahaha on buying shoes — that’s awesome!
Your lil’ man is such a cutie patootee!! I will definitely miss the blog if you choose to take a break but you should do whatever feels right to you. The hard core stalkers aka readers will be there whenever you are ready to start blogging again!
I think he’s pretty cute myself. He’s trying to look handsome for Y
Oh my, could Bean get any cuter?!? Look at him in his fall hoodie. Adorable! I’m with the other commenters. It’ll be a sad day if you take a break from blogging because I love reading the posts, but at the same time, a blog should be something you enjoy and not something adding stress or anxiety to your life. Maybe you can just post photo-dumps of Bean till you decide what to do.
At least you get the behind the scenes info bestie
And photo dumps are a great filler for when I’m extra lazy
Don’t give up blogging! I stopped blogging so frequently and it’s made the world of a difference. I too feel that my blog and my view on healthy living have changed since I started, so I changed the tone of my blog posts! Easy as that! I really enjoy your honesty and take on motherhood, so I hope you continue on! And obviously I can’t get enough cute baby pics
I’d love to hear more about your views on healthy living changed Parita?!?
I’ve started blogging less often, and I kind of like it better this way. Partly because my life now revolves around school, and partly because I’m boring, I really just don’t have a lot to talk about. I think we all go through that.
And if you wanted to just post baby pictures, I’d be 100% ok with that.
Haha, yeah I’m rather boring too. I work, take care of baby, work out, drink wine, repeat
You make beautiful babies! Nuff said
Thanks Cookie
I totally get where you’re coming from, Shanna. I didn’t feel like I fit in the HLB community and honestly, I didn’t even want to fit into it. Also, I felt like having a food blog and focusing solely on food was not the healthiest thing and it felt really forced. Even though readers would tell me they’d stick around no matter what, the less I talked about food, the more readers I lost. And that’s totally fine, but I felt like I what I was writing was just wasn’t making anyone happy. That’s why I started a new blog. I totally dig not having many readers — way less pressure! I went from wanting to quit blogging to falling in love with it all over again
Just don’t force anything. Blogging should ultimately be for you and you alone!
Yeah I hear ya. I know I’ll lose some readers, but I think I was becoming too wrapped up in the whole reader stats anyway. When i blogged all about food I had more hits too (and I have reasons why i think that is the case). I guess I’d rather the blog be more me then by the numbers. Thanks for the words!
Hello Handsome! You are adorable!
I feel you on the “not feelin’ it” when blogging! I am the same way. I think mostly bc I like writing on new health topics and all I have time for are day to day ramblings or thoughts on raising a newborn. Hopefully once things get more routine I’ll be better at blogging again.
Ahhh look at that face!! Don’t you just want to eat him up!! You have the cutest little beany on the planet! I will miss seeing pictures of that adorable face but I hear you on the HLB blogging business. As just an outside observer and casual blog reader I can see that the “community” seems a bit warped these days. I’ve stopped reading most of the popular HLB blogs and lately have been reading more mommy blogs. You’re a great writer and fun to read so I’ll miss your posts, but definitely do what’s best for you. I can always get your Beany updates from your Bestie,
