The spider beside her

Hey hey!

My blogging has been seriously slacking lately.  I blame lack of interesting things to share topped with being really busy at work and also in a bit of a funk.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to getting back into the workweek.  Weird, right?  Zach and I have midweek plans with some friends to see The Gypsy Kings at Mountain Winery.  It’s our first concert here and the venue is absolutely gorgeous.  I did do a day-of wedding coordination there and am happy to be more of a guest this time around ;)

So the weekend…

Well I went back to blonde:

It’s been forever and a day since I’ve got my hair done.  When I go dark, I just do it myself, but it started to look really brassy and knew it was time to get in for some professional polish.  I went somewhere new since I’ve yet to find a great stylist in the Bay Area (that doesn’t charge $400 for highlights/cut).  Anyway, she was very nice and did what I explained but it still ended up much lighter than I expected or wanted.  Sigh.  Maybe after a few washes, the blonde will fade a bit.  Orrrr, I can always make it darker again, right?

That takes care of Saturday day (after Spin of course), which was followed by copious amounts of vino and a veggie tagine at a friend’s dinner party.  Good company and good food is always a win.

What’s not a win?  The unpleasant occurrence that happened when I got home.

We returned at 11p-ish and I got ready for bed and had planned on reading a chapter in my book in bed.  I got all settled and felt my hair tickle the back of my neck.  Then I felt something on my back.  Then on my neck.  After about a minute, I finally sat up and pulled my shirt out and there was a freakin’ spider in.my.shirt.  No lie.  I screamed.  Zach came running upstairs thinking I was murdered.  Close enough if you ask me.  I  threw my shirt off and started clawing at my skin furiously.  Luckily we found the spider and it met a very certain death.  Gaaaaah!  That was honestly one of my worst nightmares come true.  Ick!

I seriously feel like things are crawling all over me all the time now.  {Shudders}

So yeah, those were the high and low points of my weekend.

What were your high and low points?

Any frightening spider stories you care to share?

  1. Oh ick, ick, ick! I can totally picture the spider incident and it makes me shiver just thinking about it. Poor S!

I love the lighter blond! I think brunette looks fab on you, but it’s also fun to mix it up now and then. And I think you’re rocking the lighter shade in that pic. Win! I’m glad you found a new stylist that you like too. Sounds like a pretty awesome weekend (minus the eight-legged incident). :)

  2. I love the light hair on you! I recently went lighter again too because I wanted a change but also because of the dreaded brassiness issue.

Luckily, I’ve never had a bad spider incident. Knock on wood…

  3. Cookie

I like the lighter hair, and I like the accessory on your hip! Have fun this week, ban the funk, and love the moments! Xox Cookie

  4. spiders are not my friend. luckily, i lived with a boy one summer when the largest daddy longlegs of all time darted across the living room floor. he was my hero when he smashed that sucker…

  5. The lighter blond looks great on you!! not too light at all!
p.s. i couldn’t help wonder, what book are you reading?

  6. Lisa

The blonde is gorgeous! It totally suits you, definitely keep it! If that incident happened to me you would have heard me scream all the way from Boston. I have an irrational fear of bugs crawling on me in my sleep! If I ever caught one in the act I might never sleep again!

  7. Loving the blonde! It’s so you! :)
Eww, okay, that is my biggest fear. Do you ever wake up with a weird bug bite and think it had to be a spider crawling on you in your sleep. Ah, so scary!!

  8. That spider this is terrifying!!! The worst is when you find them places that aren’t the ceiling/wall. It’s like — you do NOT belong here.

  9. I just stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say, “hi”! I am also a new mom (my son is 9 months), living in Menlo Park, who loves her wine :-) . AND, I wanted to recommend Rouge-The Salon on Main in Redwood City if you are still looking for that perfect salon. I seriously struggled to find someone affordable that I liked after moving to the Peninsula from the city and have been seeing Kristin and have loved all of my experiences there. Just thought I’d share!

  10. First of all, I love the hair, it suits you.

Second, I’d flip out if I found a spider in my shirt. A ladybug landed on my shoulder when I was running the other day and I did a little dance right on the side of the road trying to get that sucker off of me.

  11. Eww, I hate finding bugs like that! I once set my purse on what must have been a swarm of ants because I got in my car and all of a sudden saw ants crawling all over the place- it was a very scarring experience. And I practically fumigated everything I own afterward. :) I like the hair, it doesn’t look overly light to me!

  12. LOVE your hair that color! :)

  13. EW!!!! That’s so horrible!!!!!!! I hate spiders. GROSS.

Your hair looks gorgeous though!! I love the color :)

  14. No spider stories…. but fritz caught a mouse this week :/ yeah.

    Love your hair!

  15. I love your hiar blonde! It looks so good!!! :)

We have crazy spiders living in AZ. We had a family of black widows living right outside the front door or our first house we ever lived in. No matter how many of them we killed, there was always another. We’ve also had trantulas around our yard and driveway in the current house we live in and the previous one as well. And, we do have our fair share of spiders in this house. I was playing with C when she was maybe 4 weeks old on her play mat and I realized there was a HUGE spider hanging right over her face! I freaked out and moved her before i killed it. I hate spiders, but rather have them then snakes anyday (which we also have our fair share of)! :)

    • Gaaaaahhhh that sounds terrifying. Poor C probably didn’t know why you were freaked out either. I don’t know what I would have done.

As for snakes…another ick! Luckily we don’t have those …at least not in the house :P

  16. I can’t even read that spider paragraph. I skimmed it and it was too much. I think the hair looks gorgeous, though! <3

  17. I love your hair lighter! I have very dark brown hair myself, and I’ve always been to chicken to go lighter. I’m more okay doing drastic cuts than colors.

  18. Every night when I take Mac out before bed, I walk through like a bajilion spider webs and for at least an hour I feel like one is going to just crawl up my arm or leg. *shudder*
