Shoes-day Tuesday! Two tone repeat

It’s been awhile since I’ve done Shoes-day Tuesday hasn’t it?  (Well technically it’s Monday night, but let’s not split hairs)  I have some new shoes to showcase, but I don’t like the outfit I paired them with so you’ll have to wait until next time I drag them out of my closet Smile

Speaking of my closet, when I did my shoe purge about a month ago, I rediscovered some Ann Marino strappy two-tone sandals.  I was on the fence if I should keep them or toss them and figured, they were a good heel height for work.

And wouldn’t you know, the last time I showed them here on the blog, I also mentioned how well suited they were for work.  I guess they just “speak” conservative-work-shoe to me, though in reality they aren’t all that uber plain and boring.

So without further ado, here’s me and the shoes:

This is what I’d call comfy-casual work wear, not something I’d wear on a meeting day.  The skirt is Max Studio and I have no idea what the sweater is – it’s just old!

See, business-y, no?

Speaking of shoes and work, last Thursday I decided last minute to swap the shoes I was going to wear with some nude strappy sandals with a narrow heel.  Big mistake.  Huge.  While I was walking down the hallway, I totally bit it.  First time I’ve ever fallen at work, which is a wonder with how slippery the floors are.  Luckily no one really saw, but I have two giant bruises on my knees.  It should be noted that during my not-so-graceful fall, I managed to hold my coffee upright and not spill a drop.  Silver lining, people Winking smile

Come on, when’s the last time you bit it?

What makes a shoe conservative to you?  Do these fit the conservative work shoe category?

  1. Haha I fell REALLY bad a few weeks ago (but I was running, not in heels) and I had a HUGE bruise and lots of scrapes on my legs. I was hobbling for days! It was so bad!

  2. ooh so funny story about our workplace, a friend of mine had a tendancy to wear way too high heels to work (platforms and the like) and she fell once and a bunch of people saw, and she had to go through all of this “target zero” training and sign all this paperwork. i guess we sign something dress code related when we start working and there is a heel height and skirt length in there, but you don’t think much about it because you think it’s common sense, well she had to review it again. talk about embarassing! i stick to flats for the most part, except on big meeting days.

    • What!?! There was a heel height clause? Blasphemy! Oddly enough, these heels weren’t *that* hight…maybe 3.5″ with a .75″ platform. It’s just that the actual heel was so tiny that it didn’t get any traction on the ground. I’d have to hem all my pants if I wore flats ;)

  3. I haven’t seen those shoes before! Either that they’re too conservative to have fit in my memory, but I certainly thought I had your closet memorized. They’re cute though! A great work sandal. I think I need to transition my heel height to something lower for work. My typical pre-baby height was 4″ and now 4″ makes me feel so wobbly. Maybe a max of 3″ is what I need from here on out. Though that means I’ll have to give away many of my shoes. :(

  4. Ouchies! Sometimes it’s hard to tell what hurt more – the knee bruises or bruised ego. haha The price we pay for fashion…

Love the outfit by the way. That’d be great at my office any day (except jean Friday, of course).

  5. haha the other day I wore wedges to work, and was standing there talking to someone and just fell right off of them. Like, not moving at all, and my foot slid right off the edge. It was ridiculous. :)

  6. One of my coworkers asked me the other day (in front of pretty much all of my other coworkers) whether I was “going straight to the bars in those shoes” because they had some embellishment. Luckily I don’t embarrass easily. Plus, someone came to my rescue and said, “oh, Megan is actually more productive when she’s wearing heels.” Ha. :) I think it’s safe to say I’m probably due for some more conservative pairs, though.

  7. love those shoes, so cute! Also I still can’t believe how great you look after just having a baby a few months ago. Get it girl.

  8. Ouch! The last time I feel was I stepped off a curb and fell into the street, landing on all fours, in a skirt, on a busy street at noon. Lovely.
