Tuesday Shoes-day: Color block pump repeat and hi-lo dress

Why is it that I can go without blogging for nearly two weeks and then write two posts back-to-back?  Hmmm.  Usually I would call myself a consistent person.  With blogging, however, I am not.

Meh, you get what you get.

As I mentioned Sunday, I attended a baby shower, so I finally had an excuse to wear my new hi-lo dress.  While hunting for inexpensive maxi-dresses, I looked online at Forever 21 and kept seeing the hi-lo option.  I immediately fell in love (okay, like) with the one pictured below.   Bummer is that they didn’t have my size so I opted for a size bigger and figured I’d wing it.

And a close up of the shoes (last shown on the blog here):

May 20 2012 Bakers pumps

The shoes are Bakers brand and I still think they are pretty faboosh.  Love the color-blocking combo.  Surely they need some more wear.

As for the dress.  I quite like it.  I’d like it a lot more if it was 1-2 sizes smaller since it bags out in places.  It’s not the best material and doesn’t breath well, but it’s perfect to try out a new trend.

What do you think of the hi-lo dresses?

  1. Oooo – love the hi-lo dress! And its perfect paired with the bakers. New outfit win!

  2. Oh my gosh that dress is so cute!!! (It’s annoying when they don’t have the size you want, but that one looks fantastic!)

  3. Love the colors in the color blocking – I think I’m too short to pull off the high-low hemline!

  4. I love the color block pumps! adorable. And your comment about the fabric not breathing well made me laugh. It’s so true though! I can’t do their sun dresses in DC humidity because it is so uncomfortable! But for trying new trends you’re not ready to invest in, F21 is the best!

    • Exactly! Aside from the size issue, my biggest complaint is that the dress seriously does not breathe. The material is really not great, but I love the airyness and as long as I don’t sweat like a pig, it’ll work :P

  5. I am afraid I can’t pull off that dress! You look great in it – and the shoes match perfectly. Wouldn’t expect anything less from you Ms. Shanna!

  6. Cookie

You look pretty! That’s what I got to say! Fun to dress up girly!
Haha type in girly and it autocorrects to burly!
Love u Cookie. Need a bean pic!

  7. Love those shoes! Bakers is hit or miss for me. Sometimes I find 3 pairs of shoes I really love and sometimes I find nothing. It’s always worth a look though. ;)

  8. I’ve actually been looking for a nice high-low asymmetrical dress. That one is too cute. I like about half of Baker’s shoes. Some are cute…some are…well…not. ;) Nine West is the same way!

  9. I love Forever 21- it’s pretty much the only place I’ll buy anything trendy since it’s so inexpensive! I like the dress- for what it’s worth, it doesn’t look too big in the pictures, just blouses nicely!

  10. I love the dress AND the shoes. It all just feels so spring-ish.

  11. Love how those peach colors in the shoes and the dress match :)

  12. You look adorable and I think that hi-lo style looks excellent on you! The shoes are awesome too! So put together! :)

  13. I love the shoes and that color combo is right up my alley. I have a ton of clothes that can match it.

However, since I’m more comfortable in wedges, I hope I can find something similar color block in wedges. I’m looking to buy new shoes for the season.

Miss ya Shanna, hope you and the family are doing well. Baby is getting big already, adorable!

  14. You rock the high low trend! I’ve tried on a few dresses with that style and I don’t love them on my body.

Those shoes are such a great Baker’s find! They are totally chic and stylish
