Hey there!
How’s your week going? I’m happy to say this week has been going far better than last. I attribute it to getting back into a rhythm, Soybean sleeping better, and sunnier days.
It’s been awhile since I joined in the WIAW party by Jenn, but now is as good as time as any.
Below are some of my eats of the last week
Quorn veggie cheeseburger. A new-to-me find from Target. Verdict: good, not great.
Calzone made by the hubby. Best dinner he’s made in long time
Mine was veggie filled and he went with pepperoni. I tried to just eat this half, but that was futile. Paired with some Cab.
Sweet potato topped with black beans and a side of broccoli. I’ve seen the black bean / sweet potato combo on blogs and I’m not impressed – each on its own is great, but together = meh.
Vanilla latte(s). While I may not get my beloved Peets every day, I’m still treating myself once a week to my work’s vanilla lattes. Not as good, but they do the trick ![]()
Not pictured item that I wish I had a photo of was my Yoppi froyo from last Friday: yellow cake batter froyo, carob chips, butterfinger, reeses PB cups, and marshmallow fluff. So so good.
Now that I’m back to work, I’m reining in the unhealthy eating (a bit), but still indulging as noted above ![]()
What is your indulgent item? Mine are (frequent) (large) lattes and froyo
Frozen yogurt and pizza…. My go-to indulgence!
Every Thursday my coworker brings me a pastry from the North End (Little Italy). Even when I say not to, he still does, so now I always look forward to a (very) indulgent item (slice of cheesecake, cannoli, ricotta pie, etc) on Thursdays!
Are you in SF????
Cheesecake, cannoli, pie? YES please!
Haha sorry Boston! Trust me, I would gladly share — the pastries from this place are HUGE!
My bestie just moved to Boston a year ago..love it!
my indulgent items include…brownies, cookies, basically any carby dessert
Agreed on the carby desserts — cookies, cupcakes, the doughier the better
You have to add some cheese to the sweet potato/black bean combo!! Makes all the difference!
I did add a bit of parmesan, but not enough to really change anything. I’ll for for more next time!
Homemade calzones are the BEST! My roommate makes great pepperoni ones. However, I try to fill the ones I make with a few more veggies… just to add some more substance, ya know?
I am so digging the calzones and easily could eat them a few times a week. Taste even better when someone else makes them for you.
Veggie cheeseburger?! Oh my, looks delicious. I need to find these asap
I wouldn’t go ‘asap’ — they are just ‘ok’
I kind of agree about the sweet potato/bean thing. Although, I think it’s better with baked beans- the potato needs some “sauce”!
Baked beans is genius because they also have a sweet maple-y flavor, no?
Store bought veggie burgers never seem to be that great
I like making my own, or going to the burger place down the street from my apartment which makes amazing black bean burgers! But at least it’s a quick and easy meal from the freezer section!
I agree that homemade or so good. Black bean are my fave!
So happy to hear this week at work is going better lovely!!! Miss you girl and so cannot wait to see you and the soybean this Saturday and catch up
xoxo
I’ve never tried sweet potato with black beans. I can see why you wouldn’t be impressed by it though. It feels like it’s lacking something to me.
I love anything cheesy for an indulgent treat! That for yo sounds delish, I have been craving it a lot lately!
My after dinner indulgence is a smallish handful of dark chocolate chips…always hits the spot! Glad to hear you’re getting back in the swing of things, Shanna!
