Schedule? What schedule?

Hi Friends, Happy Friday to you and you!

My MIL (Cookie) is back in town to spend time with Soybean and it’s glorious Smile

Before I get in to today’s post, many thanks for your word’s of inspiration on my 4 weeks postpartum update.  I know I can be hard on myself, but also realize I am sabotaging myself hence the ‘harshness.’  Your words motivate me though and I plan to turn to them in times of feeling low Winking smile

Now that my lil man is over 4 weeks old (1 month tomorrow!), we have actually settled into somewhat of a schedule.  Go figure!  This is what our typical day looks like:

Jan 25 2012 (2)Jan 26 2012

900:  Wake-up.  Flip on coffee machine, sit downstairs with boppy and do first feeding

925: Set the bean in the boppy, grab cup of coffee, pump, watch Live with Kelly

1000: Eat oatmeal, read blogs, do ab work on the floor…maybe do tummy time for the bean (he hates it)

1045: Change bean into his outfit for the day (still wearing newborn clothes!!!)

1100: Bring vibrating chair into bathroom while I take a shower and get ready

1215: Feed the bean again (usually while eating protein bar)

1245: Leave for first excursion of the day (e.g. Target, Stanford Mall, grocery store, Starbucks, play date, etc)

330: Feed the bean (again)

400: Take Naava for a ~ 2mi walk (bean goes in Bjorn)

445: Vacuum, do laundry, dishes, emails (Sawyer is in the Bjorn or boppy during this time)

600: Feed the bean – he feeds more at night since he gets cranky

630: Start making some semblance of a dinner one-handed while drinking a glass of vino

645: Daddy comes home!  Try to eat dinner between handoffs, catch up on our day, watch tv, etc.

815: Feed the bean again

830: Daddy goes for walk with Sawyer and Naava (momma enjoys quiet time)

1000: Change bean into night-time onesie (maybe a bath beforehand)

1015: Feed the bean one last time

1030: Go upstairs to read while daddy swaddles and cuddles bean downstairs

1130: Bean goes into bassinet

145: Wake up for a diaper change and feeding

210: Back to sleep

530: Wake up for a diaper change and feeding

600: Back to sleep

900: REPEAT Smile

Talk about living your life around feedings eh?

He really is an amazingly good baby though.  The longest he’s ever cried is about 10 minutes, but normally we can soothe him in a much shorter time.

We only have small windows for our excursions but this weekend we’re going to attempt a hike as well as going out for a restaurant dinner.  Big steps for us, ha!

What rules your schedule? Oddly enough, it used to be my own ‘feedings’!

Big plans for the weekend?

    Shanna,
I don’t comment much but I LOVE reading your posts! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences.
This one struck home with the (bean in vibrating chair while I shower) and the (momma enjoys quiet time). So TRUE!
It is great to hear that you are doing well and settling into somewhat as a routine. I always called it a routine if Lilah did something twice! :)

Continue to enjoy your days with Sawyer- They will fly by!

  2. Sounds like a pretty good routine and I think it’s amazing that you’re doing outings when he’s only 1 month!!! That’s amazing. I’m afraid I’ll be a mom that never goes out in public haha..I guess I’ll make sure that never happens ;)

  3. Thinking Sawyer could guest post on my blog… he lives (and sounds like he loves) to eat. ;) You’re supermom! <3

  4. Sounds pretty good! Your baby spoils you too, eh? At 1 month, I don’t think even my little angel had that good of a schedule. At 3 months though, he’s a saint.

Does Sawyer ever cluster feed at night?

  5. He sounds like such a good baby! Lucky! My schedule revolves around work (at least right now it does).

  6. you make everything sound so easy! but I bet it’s definitely nice to get into a schedule! sounds like a good day! you will have to let us know if you have any new mom adventures of learning things ‘the hard way” too tho!

  7. Oh my goodness what a cute beanie he has on!! And eeeek for tummy time!! I can’t watch that again…poor little guy! Although that was pretty funny when he made himself exhausted and passed out :P

And I can attest to the fact that lil Sawyer is definitely a super good baby and you’re really blessed.

Good luck this weekend on your excursions – I’m sure it’ll go wonderfully. Haha my schedule revolves around my feedings too :P Other than that work, hubby, some exercise, and time with friends…getting very antsy though for a big change to hopefully happen soon :)

  8. You make it all look so easy, even though I know it’s not. I think you’re just naturally good at being a mom.

  9. Workouts rule my schedule. Sad but true. But seriously- everything revolves around them: showers/eating/social openings…

Glad to see you’re getting settled!

  10. I hope you’re not too sleep deprived! It sounds like you’re gettin’ there :)

    He’s ADORABLE!

  11. I did have a schedule but my class was canceled today and thus did nothing. Glad to hear you aren’t way too sleep deprived! My schedule was based upon when I could workout/take classes but I actually just broke my arm today so I’m schedule free as well. :)

  12. I feel like I always say this in comments, but he is SO CUTE!

  13. My baby hated tummy time too! Try propping him on the boppy, almost like he’s kneeling, it’s actually better, so I’ve heard, and easier to tolerate.

    You’re looking great mama!

  14. I wish I could come babysit the ADORABLE bean! It would be a win-win because I’d get to play with him and you’d have more relaxation time. :-)

  15. Hi love! Glad to hear all is well with precious little Sawyer!

I can not believe he is one month today! Time flies!

You are such an amazing mom, as I knew you would be! xoxo <3

You are busy! I love that you are out and about, goin for walks. Are you living the bjorn?! My BFF and her hubs (that just had a baby) are huge hikers & can’t live without it. Yay for schedules!

  17. I know I’ve told you before, but these are my favorite posts to read! I love hearing about all of you ‘Mommy adventures!’ It’s fun to see what it’s like in the life of a Mom, sometimes you don’t hear all of the truth & it’s nice to read an actual ‘day in the life of a Mom.’ :)

  18. My schedule is kind of ruled by Adam’s school schedule and my own feedings. haha But I love this – sounds like Sawyer is such a good baby!! :)
