2 new cookie recipes for the holidays

Well good morning! Are you excited that Christmas is just 3 days away?  Our tree is filling up with presents, but the only present I’m anxious to open is the one in my belly.

I did arrive home yesterday to this:

Naava discovered where I was hiding stocking stuffers (in my closet behind piles of clothes on a high shelf), so she managed to eat a bag of peppermint dark chocolate pretzels and a bag of TJ’s rosemary nuts.  Bad dog!  The little butthead was all hopped up on sugar for hours!

Moving on…

I had never had no-bake cookies until I spent my first Christmas with Zach’s family.  I was instantly hooked and had no idea how easy they were to make.

After looking at various online recipes, this is the  mish-mash I came up with and they turned out fabulously!

No-bake PB cocoa oat cookies:

Ingredients
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1/2 cup skim milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons Nestle cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup creamy PB
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 1/3 cups quick oats
Directions
  • Add all ingredients into a pot on the stove
  • Heat on medium-t0-high stirring frequently
  • Once mixture begins to boil, allow to boil for 1 min (no more than 1 min 20 sec or so)
  • Remove from heat
  • Add all oats and stir
  • Allow to cool on stove top for about 15-20 min
  • Drop large teaspoonfuls on waxed paper (lined over cookie sheet or large plate)
  • Place cookie sheet in fridge for several hours
  • Store in airtight container in fridge or freezer

After tasting some of these, I knew I needed to bake with them:

Cinnamon M&M cookies:

Simply follow the recipe on a bag of a Nestle chocolate chips and instead of adding the chips and optional nuts, add 1 bag of cinnamon m&m’s and about 1/2 – 3/4 cups of chocolate chips.

Bake at 375 degrees for about 9 minutes.  Cookies will be unbelievably soft and chewy Smile with tongue out

What are you baking up this Christmas season?

If you have a dog, is she/he as crafty as finding hidden food as my dog is?

  1. I am not baking anymore cookies, they are taking over my life!
These both look great though :)

  2. Cinnamon cookies! That would have been fun… I’ve been on a real cinnamon kick lately…

  3. hahaha I bought a new toy for Lexie for Christmas and hid it in my car. In a bag, under the seat. She found it in a matter of seconds. No joke, she jumped up on the seat, sniffed the air and then jumped down and dug it out. Then I hid it at home, and she found it there too. This is why dogs are cute – it makes things like this far less annoying. :)

  4. Mmmmm… I’m actually making No-Bake Chocolate PB Cookies too!! I’m also making Mexican Wedding Cookies, Butterscotch Bars and good old Sugar Cookies – I cannot wait!

  5. i bought the cinnamon m&ms too! i wish they were more cinnamony though! :)

  6. Naava!!!! She’s so freakin’ cute though so I don’t think I could ever get mad at her for anything, haha :P

Ooo those cookies look delish!! I’m posting today what goodies sis and I are baking up tomorrow – can’t wait! Have fun with your mama girl :) xoxo

  7. My kitchen is still a disaster from the last time I baked! I’m doing mini cheesecakes for Christmas Eve, so the madness isn’t over yet.

  8. CINNAMON M & M’S?! Yum! I think I’m baked out for this month :P

  9. We have to keep all our presents up on a shelf by the tree since Quincy would tear into them all. He has been pretty good at leaving our tree alone, but has managed to eat two of my favorite ornaments. I was so mad when I came home yesterday and found my snowboarding santa ornament in pieces at the back door. We also have to keep our closet door shut always sicne Quincy dug up and chewed a huge hole in the carpet. We don’t trust him in there anymore!

I’m still so excited for you! Thinking about you daily! I can’t wait for you and your hubs to hold baby Sawyer in your arms! Best Christmas present ever!!!

  10. My dog is good at find food when we aren’t look that has been left on the coffee table..lol It’s totally our fault but once she got a taste of human food, she couldn’t get enough and now searches for it when we aren’t looking. They are just too smart!

Love the cookie recipes! thanks for sharing :-)
