Happy last Monday before Christmas my friends!
Oh how I wish I lived somewhere nice and chilly and covered with snow. It gets me in the spirit so much more than this silly Cali weather. Although at least it has been quite brisk in the evenings and mornings.
And I’m officially done shopping, are you???
If you are reading this, I either had enough time to press “publish” before heading to the hospital or am indeed still pregnant ![]()
Out baby, out! I’m 39 weeks pregnant, it’s time!
I’ve been trying everything to urge him out: deep squats, cardio, long walks, pineapple juice, Indian food…and nothing. Just feeling generally achy and sore in the pelvic region. Sigh.
Oh but that Indian food?…
It was good. Damn good. I did the vegetarian sampler plate from Darbar in Palo Alto. You can tell I pretty much liked it all. But the spinach paneer was probably the best along with about 5 pieces of naan. Mmmmmmm.
In other news, I received a fabulous surprise from my good blend Lauren!
I’ve been ooo-ing and ahh-ing over all her fabulous cookies she’s been baking and she sent me one of her most recent batches of gingerbread cookies along with an adorable onesie for Sawyer! Thank you so much! The hubby is going to town on the gingerbread cookies. Oh and no, the gingerbread did indeed have a head – I just ate it off before I took a picture ![]()
I think she knew I was craving gingerbread because I succumbed and bought a pre-made mix (minus egg/water/butter) from Target by Betty Crocker earlier this week. And frankly, I got the genius idea to melt marshmallows between two of them. I kid you not when I say this is absolutely freakin’ delicious. Fat kid-ish? Heck yes! Do I care? Nope.
Besides eating, the rest of the weekend was spent rather low key. Just more cleaning, nesting, walking, and Christmas shopping.
Are you a fan of gingerbread cookies?
Who is left on your Christmas list? Who is the hardest to buy for? I’d say the hubby ranks pretty high because he doesn’t come up with ideas or wants insanely expensive things, which is sort of the same for me. Oye. What a match we make.
Hahah I love your gingerbread/marshmallow sandwich idea! I like putting ice cream between cookies myself
My dad and mom are always the toughest to buy for as they tend to either not want anything, or just buy whatever they really want. However, this year I think I knocked it out of the park and they’ll be very happy.
As far as gingerbread, I like the bread more than I like the men. Unless the men are very soft. (taken out of context, this would be very strange to read, I imagine.)
Haha, I like gingerbread men soft too
Awesome that you found great gifts girl!
I’m hoping you headed to the hospital after hitting “publish.” Hurry up mr. Sawyer!!
Sadly no…even after a super intense eliptical session. Grrr
why are you trying to get him out so early? You still have a week to go, don’t you want to make sure he is 1000% ready to come out? I could see if you were 40 weeks plus, but babies’ lungs continue to develop until 40 weeks and beyond….
Yay, I’m so happy you got the package and that the cookies were still in tact. Melting marshmallows between cookies is genius!
Thanks again Lauren — love love love the package!
Ummm that gingerbread sandwich idea is genius. It sounds amazing!
I love gingerbread cookies–rarely make them, though. I have a lot left on my shopping list, actually. I need to get my friend a birthday and secret santa gift (rreeallly procrastinated on that) and I still need to bake the Christmas cookies for my family. I love the baking, though, so I’m looking forward to that
I think I’d rather bake than Christmas shop too…well it’s easier anyway and guaranteed to please
39 weeks! I can’t believe you. It sounds like you are doing really well, even up to the very end.
Love gingerbread…don’t love to make it though.
I don’t love to make it because I suck at it
Gah! Tell that little man to get out!
Ha I loled out loud with all your methods to get the baby outta there. hehe. Anywho so close!
The hardest to buy for was my mom this year..as to why I haven’t found the perfect gift.
C’mon baby Sawyer!!!! Keeping everything crossed for you lovely that he comes out soon!
And, if gooey marshmallows between gingerbread are wrong, then I don’t wanna be right
Yes! I got everyone done, except of course, Todd! In fact we’re planning on making it a date to go get some drinks at Il Fornaio, then head over to Lululemon to get a gift for me and then Sports Authority for him – you can see exercise clothes are always a win for us
Drinks and then Xmas shopping? Sounds like a dangerous combo, but also a very very fun one!
One year Zach got me workout clothes and I was sort of hoping for an engagement ring — I didn’t talk to him all through dinner. Hahah.
let that little muffin stay in there and cook a little longer, dec. 26th is a wonderful day to be born!!
But I swear my muffin is done bakin’!
lol ‘still pregnant’ oh i hope he comes soon! for your sanity!! i do love me some gingerbread, i had to laugh at the headless g-man in that box! the hardest person on my list is usually my dad! so i’m giving him some of his fave foods and a nice check to buy himself what he wants! i’m totally done shopping and have wrapped my fam’s presents just need to wrap nate’s and i’ll be completely done!
I love giving and getting foodie gifts — they always get used!
Hmm, is a Christmas baby in the cards??
Baby watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember my #stillpregnant tweets!
I haven’t been able to get to the mail box I have some goodies for Sawyer still! I hope it makes it before you go into labor!
I don’t know how people can stand the waiting! Its so hard!
Aw!! I hope Sawyer comes soon! I can’t wait to see pictures of the lil guy
I LOVE gingerbread cookies! They are so good. I have that Betty Crocker pouch at home. I definitely want to make them.
A) I hope you don’t have much longer! Ready to see a big announcement from you.
B) Genius! With the marshmallows. Oh how I wish I had some gingerbread cookies in this house right now.
I’m a big fan of gingerbread, especially those of softer variety. I still can’t believe you’re 39 weeks. Where did the time go? I thought I read about your big-but-still-little secret only yesterday.
I live in Wisconsin, and we are having a very NON white Christmas this year. It’s made me realize just how much I really do count on the snow each year to help put me in the spirit ~ I’m dragging a little bit this year. I was just talking with a friend the other day, and we decided that it would be rough to lice somewhere where there’s never snow at Christmas.
