Sawyer’s nursery

Good morning friends!

Today marks my 38th week of pregnancy.  Holy god that’s a long time.  I’m definitely at the point where I waver between wanting him to bake a bit longer (say a week) and ready for him to join the world.  I’m think this coming weekend is an awesome time for him to arrive Winking smile  I’ll do a 38 week update after my doctor’s appointment on Wednesday.

This weekend was a pretty good one.   Granted we had to cancel on the SF dinner party on Friday night as well as Zach’s work Christmas party (also in SF) because frankly I just couldn’t do it at 38 weeks.  Instead, both nights were low key and Saturday and Sunday were more filled with fun Smile with tongue out

Saturday I met up with Miss Shayla, whom I adore, for some much needed girl chat and making of pecan pie cookies.  We managed to not take a single picture because we were gabbing too much of course, but if we would have taken pics, it probably would have been of the creeper at the Mountain View Starbucks who seemed to have a slight obsession with us.  Weird.

Sunday we got our Christmas tree –yay!  I’ll show pics later this week of the work in progress and the end product.  We also went to our friend’s pre-baby party and their spread of food was so fabulous I’m kicking myself for not takings pics.  So freakin’ good!

Okay onto the nursery, right?

I really wanted to go for a color scheme that flowed with the rest of our home, which has a lot of calming greens and browns, but splashes of yellow and red.  I also knew I didn’t want to go traditional blue for a boy, but was rather stuck on thinking of a set theme.  Zach actually had stronger opinions and really liked the ideas of monkeys so that’s what eventually we ended up threading throughout.

Being that we rent, we are obviously limited in how much we can do and how much space, but I think we made it work Winking smile

I have to admit that I often just come in the room and look around.  I’m quite in love with it.  I just melt at knowing he will be here soon and getting to wear the sweet clothes, sleep on my chest, and have tummy time in the boppy.  It’s all so very real!

If you have a baby, what is your nursery theme or color?

If babies are in your future, any thoughts on what your nursery would like?

And for those where b-a-b-y is a 4 letter word, what fun thing did you do this weekend?

  1. Umm can you come help me decorate my room?! Mr. Sawyer is a lucky duck…his room is so cute! Hopefully babies are in my [distant] future, and when the time comes, I think yellow will definitely be one of the colors we incorporate into the nursery.

  2. OMG Shanna, so adorable. Can you come decorate our house? I know you don’t have anything else going on right now! ;)

  3. Oh I love it!! So cute. I can’t WAIT until I finally get to decorate a nursery. :)

  4. YAY! Love the room. All that’s missing is baby!! We had our annual ugly sweater party, lol!

  5. The room is adorable!! Love the couch!

  6. It seems our weekends were quite different. ;) But yours sounds lovely! I’m hoping for more low key this coming weekend…

  7. So precious! It looks to homey in there. It looks like room designing in another one of your many talents :)

  8. I love the colors, it is very calming and relaxing! Sawyer’s going to love it!

Beautiful job on the nursery. I think I had the same crib for Nadia when she was a baby and did neutral tones for her room :)
I’m due in May and we should find out the gender January 12th. So excited! I will probably do neutral tones again for this one, so soothing. My office/soon to be baby’s room has blue walls right now and I dont think that will change regardless of gender. Good luck with your upcoming labor and delivery :)

  10. It’s adorable! My sister did a jungle theme and it turned out super cute! Gosh it’s so close girl. I bet your dying with excitement.

  11. I love Baby Sawyer’s room so much! I used to be obsessed with monkeys as a kid and I love how you have them throughout! I also love that monkey picutre hanging about his changing station! Super cute!
Your maternity pic with the caption under it about making a wish and it coming true is so sweet! I could cry (pregnancy hormones)! : )

We are doing Cameryn’s room as sort of shabby chic baby. Lots of creams and light pinks. I’m not certain how it will turn out, but I would love to paint the room pink and have a chandelier but hubby said no. We get all our furniture delivered and set up tomorrow but I think the bedding may take another few weeks. It was going to be shipped on 11/14, but then they keep pushing it back so who knows!

Baby nurserys are the best! I love just spending time in Cameryn’s as it hardly has anything in it yet! Pretty soon (any day now!) you and baby Sawyer will be enjoying his room even more!

    • I love the idea of cream and light pink…and with a chandelier. I think it sounds beautiful and I can totally see your vision. I don’t doubt that it’s going to be an absolutely fabulous room. Cameryn will look so adorable in it. Make sure to show pics of the progress!

  12. I love all the monkeys, how fun!

  13. How cute!! I love the colors and would totally choose the dark wood and green if I was to have a boy too!! I think this is making me excited to be a mom one day…dang 30 year old clock ticking ;)

    Great job!!

  15. Sawyer’s nursery is SO adorable! It is exciting to think that so soon a real baby will be in there using everything ;) We don’t have babies yet ~ waiting until I’m done with school ~ but I do a lot of pre-nursery-planning (don’t tell my hubby!). We also rent, and I’m thinking we still will at that point, so I also have to find renter-friendly decorating ideas. Pinterest saves me!

  16. I love it!! Amazing job, chica!

  17. I love how the simple and clean look of the baby room. The couch look really comfy, I think I can fall asleep on that one. For me, I would want to have something with nature theme for my baby. Chris and I both like nature and we are hoping our kids would love it too.

  18. Girly, I had the absolute best time with you and loved our chat sessions – you’re an amazing friend and I can’t wait to get together again <3 And I'm still gushing over Sawyer's room…I was going on about the cuteness of it to Todd :)

Haha I laughed out loud at you mentioning the creeper, lol!! How weird was he??!! Um, "may we help you?!" ;)

And, um, I have about 4 cookies l left – those amazing things cannot be trusted around me – I've been scarfing down about 3 a day!

I still can't believe baby Sawyer could be here any minute – eep! So so excited and I absolutely cannot wait to meet him! And remember, whatever you need, I'm here for you…and I'll be sure to have a peppermint mocha and cookie butter in tow for you when I visit – mama needs her necessities ;)

    • Oh, and future nursery for us I think comes as no surprise, PENGUINS!! ;)

However I absolutley adore your monkey theme and love your precious fur baby in the pics – I was gushing about her and the kitties to Todd to – love them! xoxo
