Good morning!
Thank you for your supportive comments yesterday on my eating binge on Monday
As I mentioned yesterday, I had my 33 week appointment this week. It was supposed to be 32 weeks, but apparently the appointment desk can’t count ![]()
Let’s revisit the “By the numbers”:
- Weeks into pregnancy: 33 weeks at appt (33.5 weeks today)
- Days to go: 45 days (as of today)
- Work days until maternity leave: 9 work days!!!
- Pounds gained: 20.7 lbs (up 4.2 lbs from 5 weeks ago) (average weight gain is between 22 and 28 pounds at this point)
- Current waist size (measured at belly button): 37 inches (increase of 1.5” since 5 weeks ago)
- Uterus size (outside measurement on stomach called “fundal length)): 31 cm (up 5 cm from 5 weeks ago –> hello growth spurt!)
- Baby weight: ~4lbs per my doctor’s estimate (average is 4.4 lb according to WebMD)
- Baby position: Head down! Woohoo! His lil booty is hanging out on my right side and he’s in a U-shape with his legs and (kicking) feet on the left side
- Baby length: 19.4 inches head-to-toe (according to WebMD)
- Kick Count Card: started at 28 weeks (Oct 3rd) – 10 baby movements are occurring in about 10 minutes (20 minutes tops). He moves so much at times it makes me nauseous. And I’m pretty sure he’s bruised my right rib.
- Weeks until next ultrasound: <3 weeks!
Overall, I’m feeling pretty great! My energy is still pretty high, relatively speaking
I’m starting to really love (like, looooove) my sleep. Mentally I’m unbelievably excited and feel like I’m ‘ready’ for the most part, though I want to also revel in these last weeks with Sawyer inside my belly.
You may remember that in my last update, I talked about considering a c-section. I still am not 100% decided, but I am about 80-90% sure I want a natural birth. And when I say natural, I mean lots and lot of drugs. I kid, I kid. Just give me the epidural, please!
So that’s where I’m at!
What are you counting down the days to?
Looking good!!! That’s exciting to know that his head is faced downwards!! I honestly would not know what I’d want when it came time to deliver. My mom did it au natural for all four of me and my siblings. I don’t know how that woman did it, but sometimes I think if she did, then maybe I could! haha
My Mom did it without drugs with me, but she said that wasn’t by choice
You look great! I’d want to go as natural as I can when I’m pregnant, but I wouldn’t be totally against the epidural!
If that’s what you want, I hope you can do it girl!
You look adorable, Shanna! Sounds like everything is right on track for a healthy baby boy!
I’m jealous you get another ultrasound; my practice doesn’t routinely do them after the anatomy scan at 20w.
We happened to get one at on Monday, w hich was awesome, although I have to say that it was much harder to tell what was what
The 36 week one is pretty much to verify he is (still) head down!
Hope you’re little one stays put for a few more weeks!
Awe you look so cute with your bump. You seriously hold the weight so well.
I’m counting down till Thanksgiving.
Me too Hollie. Thanksgiving is my absolute most favorite holiday
I cannot imagine going through with that naturally. No no no.
Seriously, can’t they just knock you out and take it out or something?!
That’s what I’ve been advocating for years
They actually do only if the baby (or you) is in distress. But I hear the epidural is magical. You better believe I’m getting one of those!
Awww, sounds like everything is going perfectly. I’m all for that epidural
I thought I wanted a total drug-free delivery…until I got to 4 cm and I asked for the epidural ASAP. After that it was smooth sailing!
I’m hoping for smooth sailing too!
I love the belly but I cant wait to meet Sawyer.
I couldnt imagine doing going through labor drug free. It couldnt possibly be a good time.
“It couldnt possibly be a good time.” Well said Leah, well said.
Great to hear that things are perfectly on track for you & Sawyer! I heard stories from my friends who birthed while watching their fav TV shows after the epidural.. thank heavens for modern drugs!
That’s perfect for a tv junkie like me
You have a simply beautiful baby belly! Totally inspirational.
Thank you Katie!!!
I’m all about the drugs! haha. Things sound like they are going really well for you and your bump. I’m looking forward to Thanksgiving. I can’t wait to see my family!
You look great girl!! I hope I can feel a kick tomorrow?!
Only 9 days left until maternity leave?! Whoo hoo! I seriously think you got pregnant at the perfect time to have a maternity leave this time of year since you’ll have time to not only nest but decorate and do your Christmas shopping!
I’m counting down the days to not only tomorrow but also for our trip to New York next Thursday! I’m a lil anxious about it (staying at my in-laws house for 6 days-eek!) but I tend to over think things and I’m sure everything will turn out great
Haha, I bet you’ll do great with the in-laws! How can the time not be absolutely wonderful when the main event is fooooood!
I am definitely excited for maternity leave and having some time to organize and also get super (over) excited about the holidays
I am sooooo looking forward to tomorrow! xo!
I’m not trying to be rude, I’m legitimately wondering…..when listing your weight stats, why do you always add the part about what the average weight gain for this stage is? Especially since you are always below the lowest point? Just curious…
Hi Dannika — that’s not rude at all. I put the range, so that hopefully pregnant woman out there see what the average is. My weight is for me only (more of an archive), but it’s been helpful to know where the target range is. Yes I’ve been primarily below, but I’m also fairly short (5’4.5″) and have been able to work out, which are probably caveats I should note above. What’s always important is that the baby is healthy and mama is healthy — the doctor will be able to share that best.
Hope that clears it up just a bit
I’m counting down till thanksgiving (love me some pumpkin pie), till I get to visit friends and family in CA again (just over 3 wks!), and till I get the text that Sawyer has been welcomed into this world!
Yippeee! All awesome things to look forward to!
AND of course finding out the gender of your blastonaut!
You look great! Almost there!!!
Ahh, you look AMAZING! You are such a pretty momma! Loved reading this update! So glad all is well!
you crack me up and you’re so cute how you still cock your hips to the side being 33 weeks preggers
I’d be the one screaming for drugs! I totally admire women who go au natural!
