Weekend Review–off my game

Good morning friends!

How was your weekend? Lovely and spooky I hope Alien

Want to know a tidbit of information?  I only have 16 more work days before maternity leave (until March 19 2012)!!!  Meep!

But back to the weekend.  This weekend was just plain off.  Yes there was some good, but I’m tellin’ ya, something in the stars were just not aligned for me.

Allow me to explain…

Friday:

Friday was an off-Friday from work, which means errands and more errands.  Well I meant to write my half of the rent check (yes separate bank accounts with the hubby) and realized I had no more checks.  Usually I plan ahead for these things.  Where was my mind?  Guess hubby is getting this month (mwuahahahah).

Then while running errands, I witnessed a 3 car crash just before my nail appointment, which had me a little frazzled.  And then my  shellac mani took about 75 minutes, which meant I was running behind for the rest of the day.   At least it looks good Winking smile

I quickly ran into the grocery store to pick up a few items needed to make some pumpkin bread, only to get home and realize I bought more cloves instead of nutmeg.  This is the second time I assumed I was out of cloves and not nutmeg, requiring me to go back to the grocery store to get the dang nutmeg.  Argh.

The pumpkin bread, however, was phenomenal – just follow this recipe.  I used 4 small pans and 2 ramekins to bake mine and it took about 53 min.

Saturday:

Saturday morning started out well enough.  We had our maternity photo shoot and did half the photos in the nursery and half up at Stanford.  From what I could tell she got some pretty good shots, but we won’t know for 2-3 weeks.  I may have some previews later this week though Smile

Since wed what we already up in Palo Alto, we decided to hit up Pluto’s for some salads and then of course had to go to Yoppi.  Remember that creation I mentioned last week?  Well I went for it: Pumpkin pie froyo, granola, graham cracker crumbs, and cinnamon life cereal with caramel on top.  So freakin’ good.  I can’t even begin to tell you how yum this was Smile with tongue out

Then things went down hill…

Either the froyo didn’t agree with me or the salad didn’t, because I was having major stomach issues.  We’ll just end that talk right there because anything further is TMI.

But we had to forge ahead and figure out our Halloween costumes for that night.  I wanted to be a pregnant nun and have Zach be a priest, but there were no costumes!

Since that didn’t work, I figured I’d be a white trash drinking/smoking preggers girl and set out to Target for some fake tattoos.  What did they have?  Nuthin’.  Sigh.

By the time we got home, I was oddly exhausted.  Like couldn’t stop yawning and crashed on the couch.

Needless to say, we didn’t end up going to the Halloween party and I feel like such a butthead.  I just got into a tired funk and couldn’t move.  You can check out pics from last year here though (Halloween Part 1, Halloween Part 2) Winking smile

Sunday:

When I woke up Sunday morning, it was so bright in our room and I was a bit confused, but didn’t think anything of it.  After I fed the pets and took Naava out, I came back in only to see the microwave clock read 941a!!!  Huh?  I just woke up to my alarm at like 817a.

Well my alarm is too smart for its own good and has pre-programmed Daylight Savings dates, but that was the dates like 8 years ago…they’ve since changed. So my silly clock set itself back an hour.  Ooops.

The rest of the morning was good, albeit a little off from getting started so late.  After my workout, I figured I’d hammer out some baby shower thank you cards by the pool.  No sooner do I walk down my stairs, do I realize I locked myself out.  Meaning I can’t get into the pool.  I walked to the leasing office and they won’t be back for an hour!  Zach just left to golf, so I’m, err, well, screwed.  Luckily I found a way into the pool area and hung out there until I could get back in.

I feel like it’s just one of those weekends where I was meant to stay in the comfy confines of my house all weekend.

So that was my weekend…

  1. Sounds like the icky weekend is making it’s rounds! We’re without power after a freak snowstorm, and I have no way to shower or cook any food until power comes back on. Our apt. hasn’t gotten too cold yet, but we’re at 60* and dropping, so if it doesn’t come back on soon we may be in trouble. :(

  2. No Halloween stories, I wasn’t into it this year. I do have a costume party this weekend, but since it’s not Halloween does that count? I ended up catching up on my zzz’s and went to a movie. Very relaxing weekend.

  3. I didn’t dress up either this year and ended up staying home as well! It was cold and snowy here in DC!
I can not wait to see your pregnancy photo shoot!!

  4. I hate off day (s) like that. Hopefully it gets better! My Halloween weekend was pretty fun. I had a lazy Friday but then did a bar crawl on Saturday. It was my first and I definitely had fun ;)

  5. Aw, sometimes you just have an off weekend, it happens! I bet the maternity shoot photos are going to be gorgeous! I can’t wait to see them!!!

  6. Halloween stories. HA. I was Nikki Minaj and listened to swim team drama for a solid 3 hours and had such a fun time. HA. Love college parties and being sober at them. ;)

  7. Kim

I had a lot of off days during pregnancy, my Dr. Called it pregnancy brain & that many women get forgetful, esp in last trimester! Now I have off days when my kids do!

  8. Sorry that your weekend did start off too good! On a happier note, I made that same pumpkin bread last week for my neighbors. I made an extra mini one for my husband and I and we really liked it! Don’t know if it’s my favorite tho! :)

  9. Your weekend totally sounds a bit off, but it doesn’t sound bad. The bread looks super!

I went to a party Saturday, but I was lame and left a bit early. It happens!

  10. Wow, you just couldn’t catch a break all weekend! Maybe this means next weekend will be extra promising for you!

Your frozen yogurt creation looks so good! I might need to talk the husband into getting some later today!

I feel like I have off moments all the time, but never too many in the same weeekend!

  11. I can’t wait to see your maternity photos, those are always so adorable. Hope your week gets better girl!

  12. Cookie

Oh honey, you do have pregnat brain . . . Which then transfers
into new mommy brain . . . Which translates into ” huh?”

  13. At least you got an extra hour of sleep! That is always good :)

  14. I totally know that feeling! This weekend was a “should have stayed home” kind of weekend too. Except I didn’t have that option.

Also, I get sick on Pluto’s salads all the time. I’ve stopped eating there. Just fyi.

  15. I’m so bad at the grocery thing! I was making a pastry and needed crescent rolls and had to go back twice because I forgot things on my list I thought I already had. So annoying! I could have used an extra hour of sleep today, I am beat!

  16. Your nails look pretty! I love getting a french manicure. Oh, and that pumpkin bread looks amazing! :)

I didn’t dress up for Halloween either. This week did seem a bit off to me. I feel like everything got screwed up where I live because of the snow.

  17. I can’t think of a specific example, but there are plenty of days when I just can’t seem to do/say anything right — so I know what you mean by feeling “off”.

That is too bad you didn’t get those costumes, because I love the idea of the preg nun/priest!

  18. awww girly I’m so sorry about your off weekend. I definitely have days like that where nothing ever seems to go right, very frustrating!! I bet you needed a nice glass of wine ;)

At least you got in some yummy treats like that pumpkin bread (yum!) and that amazing fro yo!! So happy you went for it and I so want to recreate it someday!! :)

We had a such a good weekend at that wine bar, and finally got in some fro yo, twice! Although no Halloween festivities for us – we’re the Bah Humbug’s of Halloween! ;)

    • Haha, glad you liked last year’s Halloween costumes. I was looking at those pics earlier on Saturday and got a bit depressed how thin I was then and how *not thin* I am now..argh! Soon enough..hehe.

Froyo twice and a wine bar sounds like absolute heaven! I had a mini glass on Friday night and it was oh so delish ;)

We’ll have to chat more about the separate savings stuff — I know so few people that do it the way we do!

      Happy Halloween miss bah-humbug :P

  19. I HATE realizing that I’ve forgotten one thing at the grocery store- hopefully it’s not too far from your house! Hope your week is better than your weekend. :)

  20. Awww…Shanna! What a tough weekend! It’s totally the pregnancy brain, and it happens to me ALL THE TIME. I had a really off day on Saturday, I was just a moody, miserable, cranky pants. We had plans to go out too and with the snow and my awful mood, I decided to just stay home. I felt bad the next day when I was back to “normal”. Hopefully you have a better day today, and that pumpkin bread looks deeeeeeelish!!

  21. Sorry the weekend wasn’t the best :( Halloween’s overrated anyways. On to Thanksgiving!

  22. my god! at least it’s a new week for you fresh start! and you have pretty nails :) i hope your proofs come out great cannot wait to see them! my weekend was lovely and ill be sharing my bday gifts soon! my coworkers went and got a gluten free cake made for me from this specialty bakery. i don’t even like cake but i munched a slice for their effort and thoughtfulness!

  23. Priya

Happy Halloween.. the pumpkin bread was SO GOOD! Thanks as always for sharing your goodies & the recipe. :-) Now it’s time to incorporate some of your ‘get movin’ tips to work off my hunk of a slice.

  24. Kristen

Love Shellac manicures, but they do tend to take forever!

I have plenty of “off” moments and I’m not even pregnant, LOL ;)

  25. At least your pregnant and can blame your “off” moments on that. I’m just a total space cadet. I’ve caught myself twice in the last two weeks putting food in the wrong place – bread in the vegetable drawer and a bag of spinach in the pantry. What the ??
