Shoes-Day! Maternity fashion edition (3rd tri)

Good morning my friends!

Before I start my post, I have to confess I had a bit of a fat kid moment last night and feel like total poop about it.  Sad smile  With all the indulgent eating this weekend, I had planned to get back on track yesterday and it went great…until I arrived home.  I finished off my sweet swap cookies along with 2 maple cupcakes (that I made for the baby shower).  Then I followed it by eating the last 1/10th of jar of PB&Co Mighty Maple.  Sigh.  No control.  I was racked with guilt for the rest of the night.  Grrr….

But today is a new day and I’m determined to have a wee bit more discipline.

Moving on…

For this Shoes-Day post, I’m going to show you that 3rd trimester pregnancy doesn’t mean flat shoes or tennis (unless you want to, that is Winking smile )

The shoes featured in both of these outfits are Me Too black patent leather pumps with a great tread.  They are comfy, basic and go with a ton.
On the left: Black maternity skirt from Mom’s the Word, basic white tank from Target and military jacket from Marshalls
On the right: maxi maternity skirt from Destination Maternity (love this skirt), teal tank from Old Navy, and tweed taupe blazer from NY&Co signature line.

These boots are some of my absolute fave brown boots – they are Alfani and purchased from Macy’s a few years ago.  I paired them with black Old Navy maternity pants and a loose tan/taupe Dolman knit from Marshalls.

Just like black bumps, a girl needs brown pumps.  These are Jessica Simpson crocodile patterned purchased from Marshalls.  The wool plaid skirt is a recent love from Pea in the Pod (via Destination Maternity) – so great for Fall!  A cheap-o tank from Forever 21 and black cardi from Express completes the outfit.

Who doesn’t love polka-dots?  These Jessica Simpson black shoes were a Christmas present from the hubby in 2006.  I channeled my inner 80’s chick with cropped Forever 21 leggings (non-maternity) and a loose teal Forever 21 tunic (non-maternity).

And finally, I embraced our Cali warm spell last week and wore my strappy brown sandals by Enzo Angiolini, which I bought through DSW.com.  The jeans are boot cut Motherhood Maternity brand, with the same taupe Forever 21 top, and taupe/white striped cardi from Marshalls. (This is the outfit that went with yesterday’s side profile pic of the belly growth Smile with tongue out)

Admittedly my uber high heels are starting to gather dust and I’m opting for more wedges, lower heels, wider bases, etc.  But I’m not giving up quite yet Winking smile  I still want to incorporate fun fashionable choices as long as my comfort isn’t too compromised!

Have you had any life situations that have required a change in footwear choices?

Pumps? Boots? Sandals?  Which reigns supreme?

Have any recent fat kid moments like mine???

  1. Im impressed that you’re still able to wear heels. I have a hard enough time finding comfortable heels – I cant imagine wearing any of mine while pregnant. Clearly I need to start looking for better quality. :)

  2. I have a crush on your camel boots. I am in the midst of a serious camel boot hunt right now. why are all my boots black? lol. that will change soon, i’m sure!

  3. I walk about a mile to work from the bus every morning so I just can’t handle stilettos – especially in the cold weather! I typically wear my warm comfy boots then change at the office when the weather is bad. I wear mostly flats in the summer, especially since I like to walk during my lunch break. I wore heels more often when I drove to work instead. You’re rockin’ the pregnant l0ok, as usual! <3

  4. Oh man… we were in it together last night and didn’t even know! I totally finished off my sweet sweep cookies, too. Oops…. I mean, I shared them and all, but DANG. I could not help myself!

Paying for it with a sugar headache today. :(

  5. Love the maxi skirt, so cute! And I’ve said it before but I hope I’m at least 1/2 as cute as you when I’m knocked up.

  6. PUMPS! I love them. Even when I feel like a fat kid, I feel girly. It helps :)

That is so awesome you are still able to wear heels!

  7. You just might be the cutest pregnant woman…ever. :)

  8. Jen

You are so adorable and chic! You put pregnant slobs like me to shame. :) All shoes kill my feet so I’ve been living in flip-flops. Sigh.

  9. pumps>boots>sandals. i honestly hate sandals, i think flip flops are hideous! i can’t even keep nut butter in my house lol. i either grind my own in a portion i can control myself with or buy the justin’s packets. i could seriously eat like 4-5tbsp without even blinking! chin up darling! i love that you are wearing pumps in your 3rd tri! you prove that you can be fashionable and not frumpy even while being preg!

    • I definitely love some of my sandals, but I’m not a huge flip flop fan at all. I wear them to take the dog out and get pedis and that’s about it!

PB is so freakin’ addictive. I could seriously eat a jar a day.

  10. You look so amazing Shanna and simply are the most beautiful pregnant (and non pregnant!) lady ever :)

And I can totally relate to having “fat kid moments” and that guilt, ugh, hate it! It always happens when I’m around sweets, I just can’t control myself! Especially when I’m at my parents house and they have a freezer full of Dreyer’s ice cream (Smores! ;) ) and I can easily polish off the whole carton…talk about bloat city and guilt the next day! You’re not alone in that and I’m here for you if you need to talk :)

I love love that outfit with the brown boots and the polka shoes, super cute and you’re so faboosh ;)

    • Mmmm, Smores Dreyers is so good — that’s my fave. It’s nice to know that you can relate. Why do you think we do it though? Are not eating enough cals during the day or work week? So then we binge? It’s so frustrating!

And thank you thank you for such the sweet comments! It will be fun to do some shopping together once I’m done being preggers ;) And if you are preggers, you are welcome to my clothes!

      • Yes I think that’s exactly it. I’ve noticed my binges have decreased since being better about getting an adequate amount of calories during the week. Weekends would be a serious free for all and the cycle would just continue – restrict, binge, restrict, binge. And I think subconsciously I limit my calories the day I know I’m going to my parents b/c I know I’ll want to splurge on their ice cream…I’m just setting myself up for disaster!

I would love to do shopping now too! And I would so love your clothes once I’m preggers…I would have such a blast in your closet!! :) xoxo

        • I hear ya! Since I know I have quite the sweet tooth in the evening, I’ve been keeping my daily cals low, but then it backfires because I eat so much and end up feeling like crapola. I’m thinking there has to be some balance somewhere :-/

I’ m *always* up for shopping!

  11. I had two servings of “breakfast” last night after I had dinner, so I feel ya on the fat kid moments. But you still look gorgeous! I’m in boot mode now (and probably for the next 6 months or so).

    • Hmmm, what was “breakfast” last night miss A? ;)

And now you have tons of cute boots to wear — oh so very jealous!

      • My binges are sadly never with ice cream or such yummy treats because I never have them in the house. So after dinner I first had apple-cin oatmeal with maple PB and bananas, and then “breakfast” number 2 was pom-blueberry cereal with strawberry kefir. It doesn’t sound that bad, but I assure you it was pah-lenty of calories. Hehehehe :)

  12. I LOVE Jessica Simpson pumps (and btw, is she preggers or not? I just checked people mag’s website and I’m going with a big YES!). Seriously, I feel so unfashionable lately…what are you secrets? I think I’m always trying to look too hard whenever I venture out. Love your outfit put togethers :)

  13. I totally had a fat kid moment last night as well. I was planning on eating a huge salad with chicken, but when my husband got stuck at work late, he told me all he wanted was something really good and comforting for dinner. So, I skipped the salad for dinner and made pasta! It was amazing and not too unhealthy, but when you are trying to cut the junk and get back on track a salad is always better than pasta! O-well, we both loved it so maybe salad for dinner tonight!

All your outfits are super cute! I think I need to hire you as my maternity stylist! :)

    • Pasta > salad :) I love salads for lunch but for dinner, they leave me feeling a little empty. You’ve had incredible discipline so far, so I wouldn’t give it more than a minute’s thought!

And your fashion is so cute! Too bad we didn’t live closer and we could clothes swap!

  14. Don’t beat yourself up too much, lady. Today is another day :) You’re awesome for being able to wear heels this far into pregnancy. I love the brown pumps!

  15. Aww do not feel guilty about that! Remember that pint of ben and jerrys I posted? Gone in less than 2 days! Followed by a pack of apple cider donuts that Joe and I devoured on Sunday! It happens sometimes! :) We just have to look forward to the next healthy meal!!

  16. My heart lies with boots, but the versatility of pumps makes them my all-time fav. I’m really loving those Jessica Simpson croc pumps. Classic!

  17. look at you miss rachel zoe! super preg and still in heels! =) you’re my hero!

I’ve been wearing too many flats so I finally splurged for some cut wedges to mix things up!

  18. I’m impressed that you are still in heels being pregnant. :) I admire that!

I love boots. I’ve currently been looking for a great pair that aren’t uggs.
