Before I jump into What I Ate Wednesday, let me first vent about some online ordering and shipping woes, mmmkay?
- Last week I ordered 2 maternity items from Gap. FedEx online told me the package was dropped off at 122p on Monday. When I returned home no package. No package Tuesday either. Leasing office hasn’t seen it either. Thanks to my sleuth work (read: annoying persistence), the leasing office realized someone from a different building dropped it off.
- My MIL sent me a box of something a couple weeks ago. It still hasn’t arrived. I worry that there is a black hole surrounding my apartment.
- I went to ship my goodies for Amy and Jess’s Blogger Sweet Swap and the guy behind me in line felt the need to tell me where I should stand so I’m not in the way – um, there was no evidence that I’d be in the way of anything. Thanks dude.
- I recently ordered two tops from Lilac Maternity (great clothes btw) through Overstock. One top is great and perfect …as for the other one, they sent me a large. I’m a small. Pooey.
So yeah, I’m feeling a little perturbed lately. But let’s get on to WIAW from the awesome Jenn at Peas and Crayons, shall we?
This is actually a recap of absolutely everything I ate yesterday:
730a: 16oz mug decaf chocolate raspberry coffee with 1+ tbsp vanilla creamer
905a: 1 packet TJ’s apple-cinn oatmeal + 1/4 cup TJ’s rolled oats + hefty dose of cinnamon
1145a: Leftover spicy thai noodles in peanut sauce (with chicken and veggies) from Sunday night
150p: 1/2 cantaloupe with 1/2 cup fat-free cottage cheese
345p: Berry Odwalla bar from my HLS swag bag (lovin’ these Odwallas!)
~6p: Salad beast with romaine lettuce, sliced up TJ’s savory tofu (slightly warmed), shredded carrots, Romano cheese, and lots of ground peppa
Also consumed – 1 Viactiv calcium chew and 1 dark chocolate covered pretzel (shhh, don’t tell the hubby)
8p: 1 oatmeal butterscotch-choc chip cookie warmed with a scoop of Dreyer’s slow churned cappuccino chip ice cream
And there you have it! I estimate my calories to be about 1700 for the day. Not too shabby.

I ordered something off Open Sky that has yet to ship. Oh and Amazong totally shipped my Garmin to an address I don’t live at any more and had to refund me. Ugh. I just tried the blueberry bar from our swag bag this morning, I liked it!

Well at least you found the Gap package! I don’t have any shipping woes to share except that Ilya once left one of his running shoes (half of the pair) at his parents house. They were brand new and his parents promptly put the lonely shoe in a box to send to us. The also put home-made wine in the box, however, and the box disappeared in the postal system. So Ilya was out $100 on the running shoes, and we were also down a few bottle of vino. Tragic!
Ooo I remember that..total Fail! Mail sucks.
I had someone get a package at an old apartment we lived at and kept it for like 2 weeks without saying anything!! We had to track it down and I was not happy about it.
How can they not say anything? That’s seriously lame.
I’ve ordered a few things from Amazon — and when I check the UPS site it says “out for delivery” — and I’ll think that it will be delivered that same day. Somehow “out for delivery” can mean 3 days. What the heck?
I once sent a package to a friend in Seattle — the UPS guy swore up and down it would take 5 days. It took almost 3 weeks! I don’t get it.
Out for delivery should totally mean that day. It’s no wonder that people are doing everything they can to avoid mail service now!

I hate standing in lines at the post office. Because everyone is angry and feels the need to project their mood onto me. Oy.
I ordered things from work that were coming broken or only half of the order was coming. SO annoying!

girl, I feel your shipping pain. So yesterday I had 2 notices from FedEx for attempted package deliveries. I call this morning to tell them I will come pick them up (20 minutes away NOT in rush hour, btw), and they say they can’t hold a box from Verizon (hubby’s new phone which I didn’t want left at our house since it rains every afternoon in Fla). I say but no one will be home, I’ll come get it this evening. No, we have to attempt to deliver it 3 times before we can hold it. BUT NO ONE WILL BE HOME! so you are wasting the driver’s time in 100+ degree weather for NO ONE TO BE HOME. that’s our policy. So can I come pick it up tonight? after the driver drops it back at the facility. What time is that? sometime before 7:30. are you fucking kidding me? Who makes rules like this? I hung up on the guy before I could get any more psycho pregnant lady on him, but wtf is a policy like that? can’t schedule a hold for a box from verizon! grrr…
Oh my god Kat – that sounds awful! And how dare they enrage a preggers woman? Do they not know our wrath? It seems absolutely absurd some of the rules that they have in place..there is no logic behind it whatsoever. I hope you get that dang phone!

I love ordering clothes/shoes online, but I know I shouldn’t. Nothing is ever as good as it seems in the pics and descriptions. Major buyer’s remorse and many returns…

Your cottage cheese and cantaloupe look great! Have you read about not having too much cinnamon in your diet since your pregnant? I read a little about it and cut back on cinnamon but don’t know how much truth / research is behind it. Oh, and your coffee sounds so good! Chocolate raspberry! What brand is it?
I hadn’t heard about that! I use cinn all the time and only have heard awesome health benefits.
I bought the coffee at Marshalls — it’s a red bag…I’ll try to remember the brand!
Love that you warmed up the cookie…mmm! Never tried Odwalla bars. I shop online a LOT but spend the majority of my time searching for codes for free shipping.
Shipping problems are the worst. Right up there with bank annoyances. I think I’ve eaten a grand total of 2 Odwalla bars in my life

So this may make you laugh. Even though it defeats the purpose of your blog. I forgot to tell you…when I was telling Michael all my blogger friends at HLS he kept calling you “Shannen like Bannanen” Ha. I was like, honey, that defeats why she names her blog “Shanna like Banana.” It’s like how annoyed I get when people call me “Laura” or “Lauren” I still don’t know if he was serious or just doing it because I kept correcting him.

Don’cha worry too much about your package, I’m sure it will come, I swear the mail/post office is full of sloths. I ordered from amazon which claimed an 8 day arrival…which took 22- gaaah. I will probably sound very foolish but what is Odwalla?!
Odwalla makes smoothie drinks and nutrition bars. Apparently they are based in Santa Cruz, which is really close to me!
Fed Ex can never find my house, so they always drop of OUR packages at a random person on the main road’s house! It is so frustrating! We are lucky that these have all been honest people who have recived my packages. Note: we live about 1/4 mile off the main road– not like we are ten miles into BFE!
Also, your cantaloupe and cottage cheese combo looks awesome! I wouldn’t have thought of putting those two together!

That salad looks awesome- I need a big salad in my life. I hate shipping problems. Luckily we have a great receiving room in my building (and people don’t mess with anything, knock on wood) but I’m always a little nervous that the postal system will lose my things- especially when it’s important stuff like insurance cards and car stickers, etc.
Yeah luckily this was just clothes, but I’m pretty possessive about clothes so I guess it was big..though a passport or something would be a huge issue!

That sucks, but I’d say complain directly to the company and hopefully they fix it/resend the stuff. Because this is nowhere close to being your fault. And, if anything, tell them the black hole put you up to it!
My absolute favorite Odwalla flavor is the Sweet and Salty Almond bars. If you like the sweet/salty combo (and almonds) you will heart it.
