Good moods are nice

I feel like this :D

I’m writing this Wednesday night and just feel good about the day — don’t you love when that happens?

My fat kid eating ceased today and I feel great about that.  I’ve had much more balanced meals and no crazy snacking and not only does my body feel good, but mentally I feel much more at ease.

Tonight after work I had preplanned to head to Denver’s alternative to Trader Joe’s:

This place is pretty freakin’ awesome.  Aisles of bins of food from chocolates to oats to seeds to coffee beans.  Love that.  They also had a ton of brands that I had never heard of including my choice of dinner which was frozen veggie enchiladas by Cedar Lane (280 cals, 18 g protein) and it was tasty :P   I liked that Sunflower Market had a combo of mainstream options like Kashi, PB&Co (they had White Chocolate Wonderful), but also stocked more unique healthy options like Trader Joe’s.  The only downside is that I thought it was pricey — at least pricier than TJ’s.

I managed to get some nice ab work and resistance training while watching one of my favorite shows:

How hot was the first routine with Ryan?  She’s one of my faves ;)

And to top things off, I had a great day at work.  don’t talk about my professional life that much and that is purposeful.  However, speaking in generalities, today include some of the things I love about my career:

  1. Listening to powerful executives give inspirational speeches that truly motivate me
  2. “Fighting fires” — I love the thrill and adrenaline rush of dealing with a ‘hot’ issue that needs to be dealt with on the fly
  3. Presenting / public speaking — when I’m describing something technical it’s one of the few times I feel completely at ease, empowered, and confident.  I love it!
  4. Conversing with coworkers.  This may sound silly but most of my team resides in Denver so I’m awfully isolated in Cali and it gets lonely.  It’s so great to have the energy around me!

Those are just a few, but it made it a good day and I’ll take one where I can get one!

What are you loving about work lately?

Have you been to a Sunflower Market?

  1. I am loving my workouts at the high school track right now. I run the stairs and its a quick good workout for me.

We don’t have a Sunflower Market but we do have a market called David’s Natural Market…I love that place!

  2. Yay for good moods! As far as SYTYCD goes… I liked Ryan and Ricky’s dance, and also Mitchell and Caitlynn. Some of the others were good, but not as good as the first episode. I’m ready for some cuts! Hehehehe :)

  3. I like your list of what makes a good day at work. I totally agree, which is why i loved the conference last week so much, it had all of that, and meeting new people outside of my little office is always fun. The only exception to your list would be the fighting fires coming out successful once in a while…. My days are all fires and all last minute changes and fails, the environment is extremely negative and it makes it really difficult to be the only positive one. If you ever move to the area, I can tell you one program you should stay away from!

  4. So happy you are in such a great mood! I love when good days happen! Never heard of Sunflower Market…prob a west coast place??? It sounds awesome though!!!! This post totally made me smile!

I do not watch SYTYCD…hear it’s good though!

  5. I am psyched that you are feeling better today! I am looking forward to not mindlessly eating today and the good mood that will go along with that :)
I have never heard of a Sunflower Market, sounds great!

  6. OGM = Success! Yay. I’m happy to hear you’re loving things about your job right now. I’m not loving mine, but I’m still having a good day today.

  7. That place sounds great! I hate that healthy food can be so darn expensive!

  8. Love it! So glad you’re feeling in a better mood!

… what am I loving about work right now? ummm.. that I dont have to be here tomorrow and only have 5 weeks left ;)

  9. I’ve never been to a Sunflower Market, but it sounds good…and that’s disappointing that the prices aren’t that much better, even though they claim they are! I always love a good deal!

I’m glad you got to accomplish those things at work today! It’s pretty amazing that you love “fighting fires” not many people do! You’re pretty stellar!

  10. I haven’t been to Sunflower, but I’m visiting a friend in Denver in November, so I’ll have to check it out- we all know how I feel about TJ’s, so you know I’ll like it! I’m with you on the putting out fires thing- it makes work so much more interesting!

  11. I DVRd SYTYCD and I just watched the first performance! So good!!! And of course Debbie Reynolds is amazing.

  12. So glad you’re having a good day – I love having those genuinely great days where you’re feeling on top of the world! :)

  13. Your positive mood is radiating from this post! Love the energy! I try my best to keep positive at work and make the best of it but my light is going out. I’m really searching for something else bc I need to feel passionate about something I do every day. I LOVE nutrition and being a dietitian but my current job? I’m over it!

  14. Your positivity is absolutely radiant. It would take a week of not binging to make me feel better. …:(

I’m on the fence about SYTYCD – I don’t usually start watching until it gets to less couples – I can’t tell them apart! I love the beauty and excitement…but I hate the beauty lol! – they move so phenomenally and I’m jealous it’s true.

  15. Totally love when that happens! Unexpected good moods are the best – they just make everything else seem more positive :)

I haven’t watched SYTYCD much but everyone seems to love it so I might have to get on board!

  16. I’ve never heard of a Sunflower Market but it definitely sounds like something I’d love to check out!!

  17. So glad you are having a great time with work right now! That’s so wonderful, girl! And I’ve never been to a sunflower market, but it sounds pretty magical, haha!

  19. Glad you liked Sunflower!! I love all their bulk bins and the prices are pretty good, I’m just not in love with how fast their produce goes bad :(

  20. I am born and raised in Denver, although I just moved to SoCal in March. Love Sunflower Market!
