It’s the end of my 1.5 day workweek and I’m stoked. On my agenda today is some work, shopping, a pedi, and some girl time! Yay for Fridays
My one and only motivation for working out on vacation is to eat and drink more. Yep, I said it. I own it.
But being that it’s vacation, I for one don’t like going the traditional gym route. Enter diversity!
Paddleboarding in Hanalei Bay (the last time I went was in Tahoe):
Hike the Napali Coast:
Beach yoga:
Running: Um yeah…no pics of this, but I did run just under 2.5 miles along the North shore on Thursday, Sunday, and Tuesday. Running in Kauai is so much more fun than on the mainland
Am I an advocate for working out on vacation? Meh. If you have time and want to, go for it. Otherwise, take a break and enjoy your new and temporary surroundings!
If you workout on vacation, what’s your favorite way to get the heart rate up?
Best form of non-traditional exercise? For me, paddleboarding!

All these pictures just make me happy…and a little jealous.
Happy is good Lisa =)
I was actually really proud of myself for running 3 times when I was on vacation over the summer, but… I was training for a race and that was the only time I’ve ever worked out on vacation. I prefer to take trips that involve a lot of walking because that totally counts as exercise
I agree with you Lauren. Walking is totally exercise!
Oh my goodness that looks like so much fun! I’m really glad you were able to workout during your trip!
It did feel pretty good
Whoa! Those pictures are beautiful! Love all of the yoga poses- too funny
Have to agree- running on the beach is WAY better than running on the mainland!
That looks like such a fun way to exercise! I wish I had somewhere to try this!
Ahh! Sounds like so much fun – Im super jealous right now, as I sit 3 feet away from a space heater and still freezing.
I’ve definitely worked out/ate right over the last couple of weeks with vacation in mind… gotta cancel out those margaritas, right?
Looks gorgeous!
I’m naturally more active on vacations so I fit in workouts where I can but don’t fret it. But I totally own up to doing so to have more of the fun stuff. Love margaritas on vacation!
I SO WANT TO GO TO KAUI!!! Actually – anywhere in Hawaii…or any island…heck anywhere!!!
The last time I was on a real vacation was about 9 years ago. Then, it was down south to the DR, me and my sister at the time got up early to run about 20 minutes on the beach – about all we could stand!! – it was still too freaking hot in the morning.
We then proceeded to eat pancakes, ice cream, pineapple, and italian dinners all day with white wine when we weren’t laying out by the pool
…I think more exercise was needed!!! Eek.
Nice pics! I like running on vacation
And bikram, if I can find a studio!
Love the yoga shots on the beach!
I love walking on vacation, not having a car to cart my butt everywhere allows us to walk and take in all the scenery! Plus running on the beach is my idea of heaven, followed closely by ridiculous amounts of food of course
I can assure you that us gays workout on our vacations! There’s nothing like a nice run on the beach (in Hawaii).
I needed you there to kick my butt then Josh
These pictures are amazing! They make me really wish I were at the beach right now, haha! I love your beach yoga especially!
Keep the pictures coming, I really really love them. I like seeing friends go on their travels and returning home and sharing their beautiful pictures.
You looked great in all your workout outfits.
I love running in Hawaii. Everything is much more enjoyable while on vacation and especially in Hawaii. I can run miles and miles and not notice anything except for the beautiful coasts.
Awwww…need.to.go.on.vacation.soon!!
I’m so jealous of all these pictures!!! It looks so beautiful!!! I try and take walk/jogs on the beach if I’m in a tropical place!!
Paddle boarding looks amazing… The dad I nanny for just got one and he always tells me to take it out if I want. I dont even know how I would carry it!!
I workout on occasion when I’m on vacation… I always bring clothes, sometimes it happens – most of the time it doesnt.
If it’s warm though I do like to try and run outside to check out the surroundings.
Keep your pictures coming!!
I really like to do yoga on vacation – it totally makes me feel even more relaxed and zen…
Paddleboarding looks like so much fun! I’ve never had a chance to try it but I really want to. I’m with you on the working out on vacation thing- if it means you’ll enjoy your surroundings more then it’s a good idea, otherwise taking a few days off won’t ruin you!
Love the pics! Looks like you had a great time on vacation, even while working out!
I’m with you on diversifying! There is nothing wrong about working out on vacay, but when your somewhere new, why nit workout in a new way!?
PS you look hot paddelboardong!
I never go to the gym on vacation but I always hike and try as much new stuff as I can. My favorite way to see a new city is to walk through it so I set out on foot with my husband a lot.
I love your motivation- same with me. It’s always more food and drinks that get me moving!
The paddleboarding looks so fun! That wasn’t big when we were in Oahu way back when, but I don’t usually tend to exercise (on purpose) while on vacation. It just kind of happens if I’m so inclined.
I ALWAYS feel bad if I don’t work out on vacation. narnar. It’s good to find alternate ways to work out than just the regular old gym when you are on vacation. That way you are enjoying the outdoors and your vaca at the same time. This looks like so much fun!!
I feel bad if I eat a lot, which is most of the time Laura!
Yeah, that’s not just on vacation. I always feel bad for eating a lot. I hear ya!
