Weekend where did you go? You’re not even over and I already miss you and, well, I feel you’ve cheated me!
Friday was a mad dash to an earlier Bikram yoga class that previously planned. It was fantastic as always and definitely help calm my anxious mind. When I returned home, I was in the mood to set up my OOs (overnight oats) for a pre-made breakfast to start my day. In my oats went 1/2 (somewhat heaping) cup of old-fashioned oats, 1/4 cup fat-free half/half, 1 tbsp TJs pumpkin butter, and lots-o-cinnamon
Here are the before and after:
These OOs did not disappoint and only come in at about 230 calories…not bad. Notice the beautiful peony by my oats? Thanks to TJs and a thoughtful Gma and Mom, I have these lovely ladies to look at every day. Growing up in WI, peonies were everywhere…here in Cali, not so much!
The rest of my eats went undocumented throughout the day even though I attended a delightful tea party at Lisa’s Tea Treasures that was more than a little blog worthy. So why no happy snaps? Because I had to go to work afterwards and my brain was all cluttered and not in the creative zone at all. Now I wish I had because this was a taste extravaganza from the ginger tea cookies, to the brie-walnut pastries, and the to-die-for hazelnut chocolate mousse cake. Oh, and of course the tea
I had the blackberry jasmine and must return to purchase some! Sadly no pics. Yeah, I’m lame.
I do, however, have a pic of one of my favorite flowers in the entire world: The Palmer Calla Lily. They are so exquisite and I didn’t even know they existed until a couple of years ago. While MomGreenThumb was visiting in 2008, she offered to plant me some pots for my balcony. We stumbled upon these while at Orchard Supply Hardware and I thought they were beyond gorgeous! In fact, so gorgeous that they were the genesis of my wedding colors. I decided I must have Palmer Calla Lilies in my bouquet! Sure enough I did!
What’s great is that each year, my Palmers come back so I have a little piece of my wedding day right outside my home
Alas, I did get a chance to meet up with some friends and some Mexi food (my go-to happy food!) last night. I brought along this wine that I purchased last year in Central Cali at Babcock Winery:
It’s called Identity Crisis
Why? Because it’s a white Syrah! Huh??? Yep, at the time, I remember it having a nice buttery, well-rounded taste like a red, but the crispness of a white. Gotta tell ya people, I think it was ME that was having the identity crisis. I like reds. I need to stick with reds. I must not fall for the silly impostors! This pseudo-Syrah can take a hike! I thought it was syrupy and sweet and I’m so sorry to Rachel and Matt for bringing this poser to your home
And now, it’s Sunday and I’m off to work in a bit…again! Grrrr, hiss, booo! I have to say Happy Father’s Day to all the dads (including mine!)!!!
